- DIY Pullover Top + Pattern Review
Hi Darlings! It’s getting close to REGISTRATION DAY!!! for the 3rd Annual Mimi G Fashion, Sewing & Style Conference. I am so excited!!!!! I will be opening registration and posting full details on the 13th so don’t forget to check back. As you may remember I keep attendance manageable and tickets sell FAST! Okay now for my top. I had pinned a top like this in a fuzzy, fleece fabric and it just looked so cozy that I wanted to make myself one. Then while in Atlanta I saw the lovely Michelle of Social Butterfly Boutique wearing a similar version and it reminded me of that pin. I used pattern V7997 which is now out of print but you can still order it online and made some modifications of course, but nothing really major. Modifications: I did not do any of the gathering, I doubled the width of the fold over band, added 5″ in length to the top and 3″ to the length of the sleeves. I also cut a size larger so it would be loose and comfy. MAKE IT: Top Pattern HERE / Fabric (any of these will be great) HERE BUY IT: Similar Top HERE in 3 colors, Gap Jeans (similar) HERE / Zara Shoes (old) / MK Glasses
- DIY Mock Wrap Dress + Pattern Review
Hi Darlings! I love when I come across a pattern and don’t need to do any fitting adjustments. It is RARE that I can sew out of the envelope but this McCall pattern did just that. The pattern is fast and easy to sew up and will become a favorite for sure. Pattern Description: McCall 6884 Close-fitting, pullover, mock wrap dresses have right front variations, tie ends and narrow hems. Pattern Sizing: I cut the 6 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done with it? Yes Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy to understand and follow. I did not need them but did read them for the sake of the review. The dress is pretty straight forward. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love anything that looks like a wrap, is a wrap, fits like a wrap. Fabric Used: Fabric courtesy of www.fabric.com (no longer available) but HERE are some options Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: NONE Would you sew it again? Yes, I plan to make it again. Would you recommend it to others? I would for sure. It is a great little pullover dress. #m6884 #mccalls #wrapdress #zebra
- DIY Black on Black Look
Hi Darlings! It is casual Friday and I am so ready for the weekend. I don’t have much to share today since I think I am still recovering from my trip. The pants I have on are from pattern B5895 which I have worn and reviewed HERE. The crop top is self drafted from an old t-shirt I had. I love the fabric I used! it is so spongy for lack of a better word, lol and it feels really great. There is something similar HERE I hate to tell you to call Michael Levine’s about the actual fabric I used but I can’t find it online so I am sure they will be happy to help locate it. - DIY Winter White Dress + Pattern Review
Hi Darlings! So the day I was leaving for Atlanta I decided to make myself a new dress to wear so I did. Unfortunately the morning of the meet and greet I got makeup on it as I was dressing so i couldn’t wear it but I couldn’t wait to wear it so when I got home that is the first thing I did, remove the stain! I have made this pattern B5950 before in a Metallic Fabric worn and reviewed HERE but this time I used a medium weight off white Ponte Leggero which is great but still needed a lining and since the pattern doesn’t call for a lining I decided to do the line the skirt only. I just cut out the skirt pattern pieces in lining fabric one size smaller ( I used a stretch lining) DIY Dress Pattern HERE / Fabric HERE / Steve Madden Shoes HERE #5950 #butterick #stevemadden #Dress #white
- DIY Temperley London Inspired Dress
Hi Darlings!!!! I am back and exhausted, lol! what an amazing time I had in Atlanta. First let me say that the people of ATL were exceptional. Adrienne and I were sad to leave but will be back soon. I want to thank you for your patience in allowing me that little blogging break during my trip, but now that I am back to the grind I want to share pics and a video from the Meet and Greet. I MUST give a special thanks to The B Firm for doing such an incredible job putting the meet and greet together for me, I literally just had to show up. If you are in need of great event planning, PR and more please pay them a visit. I also want to thank Piece of Cake for allowing us to take over their store on Collier and keeping it loud and busy for over 2hrs. AND…. the cake is OMG yummy delicious (the Caramel Cake was my favorite) You can check them out HERE. I was also so humbled when through a sea of women I see a man dressed in his military fatigues head to toe (army I believe) he came to the meet and greet to see me and then took a patch off of his uniform and gave it to me. It was so touching and I will cherish it always. He said “I don’t sew but I love seeing your pictures in my timeline” Thank you so much for coming and for my gift that you have worked hard for and of course for your service to this country. I also had Mr. Well Dressed in attendance with his fly self, lol! Thanks for coming! Okay here is a lovely video that @camermanatltv put together for me and some pics.

- DIY Little Green Dress & Belt + Franken-pattern Info
Hi Darlings!! I am keeping it short and sweet today. I used two different patterns to make the little green dress which is always fun to do because it gives you a chance to look beyond the envelopes and be creative. I used the bodice of V8815,minus the peplum of course, and I used M6842 View A for the skirt. I lengthened the the bodice by 1″ and then sewed the bodice together and sleeves, then the skirt and joined them at the waist. It was super simple and worked like a charm. The only few adjustments I needed to make were at the waist. The thing I love most is my self covered belt! They are so easy to make if you have some belting and a covered buckle kit. Sometimes having a fabric covered belt just makes the sewn garment look even more fab! I made the dress out of a Kelly Green Athletic Spandex that I seem to be obsessed with. I even told Regina at Michael Levine to save me every color that comes in. It’s almost like an amazing light weight scuba fabric that holds it shape like no other, I love it!! shoot for a second I almost hated sharing LOL!!! don’t buy it all up! but if you do buy don’t forget to use my coupon “mimi10” DIY Dress & DIY Belt / Steve Madden Heels HERE / Express Necklace (old)
- DIY Date Night Dress + Atlanta Update
Hi Darlings! Did you guys have a good weekend? I had a great weekend with the family and I had a chance to make myself another off the shoulder dress (I am obsessed) it’s so easy to sew up and I can wear it for a casual day in flats or with sexy heels for date night. You have seen this dress already in grey and black and if you sew you probably already own the STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL but I could not pass up the chance to wear it and photograph it again, especially since the hubby loves to see me in it. I am trying to get some work done today but I woke up with terrible sinus pain and I have been trying really hard not to get sick. Although I rather get sick now instead of later in the week when I am in Atlanta. Speaking of ATLANTA….I am BEYOND CAPACITY for the Meet & Greet.…Seriously the RSVP’s are overwhelming and I am so excited to meet each and every one of you.
