- THE BEST WAY TO PRESERVE YOUR MEMORIES!
Hi Darlings! I am so excited about this post. When I partnered with Legacybox and learned how amazing their service was I knew you guys would appreciate it. I don’t know about you but I have been around long before the digital boom and so I happen to have things like cassette tapes (of mixes I made using the radio and the record/stop button, LOL) I have VHS tapes…you know those big rectangles with actual film… yeah those. I even had some mini dv tapes and old pictures that were actually taken with a film camera. The memories held within these items are priceless to me but I couldn’t relive them because I no longer own a cassette player, VCR or DV player…that was until I got my hands on Legacybox. You can preserve any format of outdated memories! Legacybox will send you a kit that you fill with your memories and then send it back to them pre-paid, they digitize it all and then send it back to you! Here is how it all works… The kit includes a welcome guide, round trip shipping and a crush proof box. Along with the prepaid shipping you also get barcodes that you place on your items for easy tracking. It makes sure your memories stay safe through out the entire process. Once you are done barcoding simply place your items back into the boxes provided and fill any empty spaces with paper or padding to avoid shifting. In a few weeks you’ll get your originals back along with DVDs and digital files ready to share, view and enjoy! Isn’t that amazing? I am so glad that Legacybox provides this service because memories are what our lives are made up of and I want to be able to watch, laugh, reminisce and remember all those great moments with my friends and family. Here is a clip of some of the footage I was able to preserve and enjoy again after so many years…my son learning to crawl! You are probably pulling out old VHS tapes right now aren’t you? Well here is something awesome for you…The first 50 people to use the code: STYLE at checkout will receive 40% off their Legacybox when you click the link HERE

- DIY Tulle Skirt + Pattern Review S1427
Hi Darlings! Happy Thursday. I love these pictures so much, it looks so soft and pink lol! This is the perfect holiday party look for chilly nights. I know we often think of tulle for spring and summer but why not in the winter with a Cable Knit Pink Sweater? So here is my take on how to wear tulle in the fall/winter months… 1. Wear heavy tights underneath (like sweater tights or leggings) 2. Wear it with tall boots or booties or a close toe pump 3. Pair it with a chunky sweater or rock it with a blazer or jacket (as shown today on TiekoandMimi.com) I tried on a tulle skirt similar to this one during the summer but they wanted $59 for it and I knew I could get some inexpensive tulle and use THIS SIMPLICITY PATTERN #1427 to make my own…so I did. I also made it in black (as shown today on TiekoandMimi.com) check out this awesome sweater look and pattern review below… Pattern Description: Simplicity #1427 Misses Tulle Skirts Various Lengths Pattern Sizing: I cut the 6 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes the instructions were clear and easy to follow. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I always love tulle skirts so when I saw Simplicity release this pattern earlier this year I knew I would be making it. Fabric Used: Tulle (HERE) Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: The only thing I did different was use less tulle. I used about 1 yard less because I didn’t want it as full as the pattern. Would you sew it again? I already made it in black (shown HERE) so probably not. I do however recommend this pattern. - My Amazing Plaid Jumpsuit
Hi Darlings, I hope you are all having a really great week so far. I can’t believe how quickly this year has flown by and that I am already up to my eyeballs in Christmas shopping lists… The kids have already submitted their requests, lol so my online shopping has begun. This plaid jumpsuit is a Zara find while shopping with Tieko. I grabbed it as soon as I saw it because I knew I could wear it with sneakers or heels and be fly! Tieko found it to be scratchy (it’s a wool blend) but I don’t find it scratchy at all…I guess it depends on your sensitivity to wool. Hi Darlings, I am getting ready to film this week so you have some DIY projects to do during the Christmas break 😉 Today however I am posting my Simplicity #8014 DIY Dress which I am in love with. I initially was going to make the dress out of a chambray but when I came across this striped textured fabric I knew it would love amazing. The fabric is from The Fabric Store…you can read about them HERE I don’t know if they have any more of this fabric left but you can call or email them to find out (Ph: (323) 931-8300 LA@thefabricstoreusa.com) The pattern is FANTASTIC! - MY PROJECT RUNWAY BEHIND THE SCENES RECAP + GIVEAWAY
Hi Darlings! I was so excited to see myself Project Runway Junior last night. I had such an amazing time working with Tim and the kids so I thought it would be cool to share some pics from the episode and give you a little behind the scenes look. The team challenge was for the designers to use a series of Simplicity vintage patterns to help create their collections. I had the immense pleasure of appearing to represent Simplicity and to mentor the kids. I got to spend some one on one time with them the day prior to shooting to go over what a commercial pattern was, how they work and how to read through the guide sheet etc. I was a little nervous to meet them all but when they recognized me and said they watched my YouTube videos I was so excited and we went from strangers to BFF’s and started exchanging IG handles, lol. Honestly they are so talented that they didn’t need me to show them anything. They were so kind and funny and most of all humored me, LOL! The day of filming I think I spent most of my morning trying to convince my body not to faint! I hadn’t met Tim yet so of course the anticipation to meet him was building and seeing as I LOVE HIM I didn’t want to look crazy falling all over him. I spent some time in the make up chair with the amazing Aeriel D’andrea who did my face and made me flawless for my TV debut. Once I was dressed (of course I am wearing my Mimi G for Simplicity Pre-Spring Pattern) I was guided through this door that opened up to what sounded like angels singing and Tim Gunn standing there! He called me by my name (I died) and then we chatted for a few minutes about my dress, how much I love him and how I excited I was to be on the show. The set was incredible! The Simplicity dresses were displayed so beautifully and the vintage feel was just perfect for the challenge. Tim and I stood on our marks while they set up and chatted some more…we laughed and of course talked fashion. HE IS SO NICE!!! (from left to right Simplicity #1587, Simplicity #1459 and Simplicity #1197 Oh you know just me and my friend Tim laughing it up! I swear that as soon as we started filming my nerves calmed down a bit but prior to that I literally felt like my heart was going to burst out of my chest. Once the kids walked in I got a chance to explain the challenge and of course what the winner of the challenge would be getting…the winning design turned into a Simplicity pattern! They were very excited about that and I was just excited to be sharing that moment with them. The kids got right to work! it’s so impressive how quickly they come up with ideas, fabric choices and get started. If you have ever sewn with a silky fabric you know it’s not the easiest thing in the world to do and especially when you are on a time restriction, but Bridget was amazing and nailed it! #DesignerBridget All of the designers did such a great job! The collections were very impressive. This experience has been really wonderful for me and having been able to spend time with the kids and getting to know them made it so hard to watch the eliminations. I just want them all to win but it’s a competition…I was so happy to see Bridget win with that gorgeous red dress. CONGRATS! I couldn’t end this recap without a little something for you! Simplicity is hosting a GIVEAWAY of Bridget’s Winning Pattern! Leave a comment here telling me what you enjoyed most about this episode and I will pick two random winners on Monday. Thank you guys so much for always being so supportive of the sewing community and of course my blog. I can’t thank you all enough for all that you give to me with your ongoing love and encouragement. - DIY PLAID COAT + MY PROJECT RUNWAY JR. APPEARANCE
Hi Darlings, As I mentioned yesterday I am on the road and have had the worst two days of travel, lol! Cancelled flights, delayed flights etc… but thank goodness I made it safely to my destination. Now let’s talk about this AHH-MAZING DIY coat lol…it’s not as dope as MY coat pattern for Simplicity but it’s a great basic style and great for plaid fabrics because there are no darts, princess seams or center back seams to match… just sides. My pattern review is below… This fabric was gifted to me so unfortunately I can’t link out anywhere…I did however find some great plaid options HERE and some coating options HERE. ANNOUNCEMENT! If you missed my post on Instagram yesterday I am going to be making an appearance on TONIGHTS episode of PROJECT RUNWAY JUNIOR!
