- DIY CHEVRON STRIPED DRESS USING VOGUE #1653
HI DARLINGS! Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I am getting ready to start all my prepping. I am wishing you the best most amazing time with friends and family. I wanted to share two things: I have a SEWING PLANS video on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL This is my Thanksgiving look! This pattern is from my recent PATTERN HAUL VIDEO and the fabric I have had for some time. I wasn’t sure what to do with it until I saw this VOGUE 1653 PATTERN. It is a very fast sew! Even cutting the fabric to achieve the chevron look didn’t take long at all and sewing it up was quick and easy. I did, however, add elastic to the waist because the pattern has you leave it loose and cinch it with a tie belt. I did not care for that because if I want to wear it without the tie belt it will look super frumpy. The only other thing I need to say about this pattern is that the front cut is very low so if you don’t want to show as much skin you can sew up the CF a bit more. SEWING PLANS VIDEO THE LOOK I kept this look super simple because the stripes are a bit much alone, lol I wore these great little booties from STEVE MADDEN from several years back.

- WANT TO LEARN TO SEW?
HI DARLINGS! Happy New Year. I am so thrilled to get back to blogging and sharing so I am kicking off the year with a recap of SEW IT ACADEMY for those who follow me for fashion but are looking to learn how to sew which is how most of my followers began at one point. Learning to sew is not hard and it’s not a skill you need to be born with. Too many people’s surprise I was actually not very good at sewing when I started. It took me time to learn to sew and even longer to fit my body. I even gave up after a while and started making things I didn’t need to fit to my body like handbags and crafts. Eventually, I wanted to make clothes badly enough that I stick with it and through trial and error I finally started getting the hang of it. Here is the difference between you and me, I did not have a Mimi G to teach me, no one to guide me and YOUTUBE was not even a thing. CHECK OUT OUR FREE TRIAL That is why I created SEW IT ACADEMY. I wanted people to have a place to go where they could learn to sew without ever having had any experience and I wanted it to be affordable. I wanted to make sure that I could provide a curriculum that any fashion design school offered but for the cost of two lattes a month. It hasn’t been easy but we have successfully taught tens of thousands of students and counting. I also created a FREE TRIAL that does NOT require a credit card to try. I want you to see for yourself how I teach and what you can expect and if you choose to sign up after that then it’s on you to click the link and enroll. - DIY GREEN WOOL COAT USING VOGUE #1563
HI DARLINGS! I am trying to get back into the swing of things so let’s start with my first DIY post of 2020. I made this coat during my December break and I love it so much! It is a really interesting coat with great seamlines and details. I made a WATCH ME SEW VIDEO so you can see me put this baby together. This VOGUE 1563 PATTERN is amazing! I also did a POST yesterday about SEW IT ACADEMY for anyone who wants to LEARN TO SEW. If you missed it CLICK HERE or share it with a friend. Ok, I hope you enjoy this video! The fabric is a GREEN WOOL from MOOD FABRICS which I talked about in this FABRIC HAUL VIDEO. THE LOOK I wore a simple black sweater dress and some booties. I wanted all the attention to be on my coat!
- STRIPED SEQUIN DIY DRESS USING MCCALL #8021
HI DARLINGS! I have so many things to post and share that I made over the last weeks of December when I took time off to sew. I started with the GREEN COAT I made and love so much and today I am sharing the STRIPED SEQUIN DIY DRESS I made and wore for New Year’s Eve using MCCALL 8021. This fabric was a major score at JOANN’S a while back, I have not seen it in stores anymore but it is ONLINE HERE. I may buy some more because I think I want to make pants, lol. The pattern was not difficult at all and it is fully lined which is great considering I made it from sequin and that is always uncomfortable to wear if not lined. THE LOOK I wore opaque tights and my very tall booties.
- DIY SEQUIN DRESS WORN AS A JACKET
HI DARLINGS! Here is another look at my SEQUIN WRAP DRESS that I posted Tuesday HERE. I love that because the dress is fully lined it works great as a jacket that you can throw on over jeans, a dress or even slacks. I love mixing casual ad fun items together and this is an example of that. THE LOOK My sneakers are a current favorite from ADIDAS and my sunglasses are vintage DIOR. I also am rocking my MADEWELL jeans (similar pair HERE) I love these jeans.
- DIY KNIT DRESS USING VOGUE #1633
HI DARLINGS! First, let me start by saying that I am back to recording my PODCAST and the first episode of SEASON 3 is up now. Ok, now let’s talk about the sleeves if this dress and how great they are. This VOGUE #1633 pattern is pretty cool and it’s a simple sew even with the sleeve detail. I wanted to make mine out of a double knit in a burnt orange which I grabbed from MOOD FABRICS. It is a stable fabric with some stretch. I made a slight change to the turtleneck because on the envelope it is pretty flimsy and I wanted more structure so I cut it slightly smaller and added interfacing. Aside from that, it was pretty straight forward. I love the style of the dress but don’t need more than one of these so I will probably not make this again. THE LOOK I wore my knee-high boots from STEVE MADDEN, I have big calves so these are great because they have elastic on the sides.
- DIY PLAID COAT USING A VINTAGE VOGUE PATTERN
HI DARLINGS! I am so stoked about my latest coat, I made in just before the holiday but had not been posting until a week ago so I am excited to finally share it. I had this amazing fabric in my stash for over a year and finally found this great VINTAGE VOGUE pattern to use for it. I also did another WATCH ME SEW video, you can watch below or SUBSCRIBE to my YOUTUBE channel so you don’t miss any other uploads. WATCH ME SEW! THE LOOK I wore my favorite and really comfy nude heels from STEVE MADDEN, my wide-leg jeans from MADEWELL and a tan tee.
