  • My Sewing Studio & Closet Madness

Hi Darlings! So about two years ago we decided to move back to the city. We rented a place we could live with until we found a place that best suited us, and in the city that is hard to do. 6 months ago we found a place we liked that was just on the outskirt of the city but close enough to downtown, where I spend a lot of time (fabric/fashion district), so we moved and settled in. Soon after we found that the property community management folks were awful and negligent, so the dilemma began. Trying to get things fixed was a nightmare. The neighbors are out of control, and mind you we live in the suburbs in a gated community!! ugh. So letter after letter, complaint after complaint, broken water pipes & soaked rugs then mold build up I just could NOT take it (especially for the money we pay every month) goodness. After trying to get the situation rectified with management and having ZERO response I began looking at BRAND NEW developments that had options to buy. I should have done this to start with but you know sometimes God has a different plan then you. So after some due diligence on our part we found an amazing place with so much room and no one has ever lived in our home. EVERYTHING is NEW! and now I have two work spaces, a studio set up for filming and a separate workspace for my own personal stuff, and an entire room that I am converting into a walk in closet! When an opportunity presents itself be ready and take action! This weekend was crazy with the moving and this week will be no different so just bare with me while I get it together. The first thing I put in order is my bedroom because if I don’t sleep comfortable I am not a happy camper, lol I just have some artwork to put up and a few little trinkets and I am set. My bedding is a mix of Bed, Bath and Beyond HERE, Nate Berkus HERE from Target and some Home pillows from Goods. I woke up this morning and did try to find something to wear but everything is a mess in the new place and I could NOT manage to think straight let alone find an outfit worth photographing. I am almost done setting up the work room so I can get back to business but this morning in the closet it was not happening, lol Here are some pics of the mess 😉 and the progress of my filming space! Thank goodness Ikea sells extra shelves so you can customize your Billy Bookcases (HERE) because not only do I need 4 more shelves I need another bookcase, lol! I am completely smitten with my rug! so appropriate and darn cute! Ikea button rug HERE This is my filming space 😉 the table is perfect and because it is a “build it yourself” sorta thing it was perfect! The LINNMON table is 78″ long and can be found HERE (also in black/brown) the NIPEN legs are so pretty and can be found HERE. The middle piece is perfect for my pins, nippers, zippers, presser feet etc. The ALEX drawer unit is HERE. The leather chair is from Staples and the above desk shelves are EKBY found HERE More pics and links after I am finished.

  • DIY Track Pants & Crop Top + Pattern Review V8909

Hi Darlings! I am so pumped today (maybe I had too much coffee) but either way I am just feeling excited and blessed and ready to take on the world, lol! Let’s Talk OOTD: The pants pattern is V8909 View B. This pattern is FANTASTIC! It has just the right amount of ease, the fit is great and the style is just what I was looking for. I also really love the fact that I can wear these dressed up or down. I have reviewed the pants pattern below for you and plan to make them in leather soon. The top is self drafted because I couldn’t find a pattern that I could easily manipulate, so it just seemed easier to make it from scratch. The top is a high/low crop which is also going to be a future tutorial. For custom orders on the crop top EMAIL ME Pattern: Pants Pattern V8908 View B Fabric Used: I used a stable double knit which I think is perfect for this pattern. There are many great colors HERE and use the coupon dolls “MIMI10” Pattern Sizing: I cut the small Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope when you were done? Yep Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, the pants come together rather quickly. The only think that takes a little time if you are new to sewing is making the stitching lines for the elastic casing and maybe the buttonholes for the drawstring. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked everything. I was a little suspect because sometimes these patterns look like they will look good but are drafted really big or without style details but this one is a winner for me and will stay in rotation. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did not do the buttonholes for the drawstring because I knew I wanted a flat front so I just folded over, created the casing and inserted my elastics. Would you sew it again? Yes. I plan to make them in leather and sequin 😉 Would you recommend it to others? Most certainly! • DIY Casual T-Shirt Dress + Pinterest Inspired

Hi Darlings, Can you tell that I am currently obsessed with this shade of blue? I bought so much fabric this color without realizing it and now I have a ton of blue to sew up, lol! I came across a pic on pinterest of a t-shirt dress I thought was awesome and looked comfy, so I took some blue knit jersey and made my version of it. I used some of the process I show in my T-Shirt Maxi Tutorial. It was fast and easy and I will be making it in many colors for fall. The great thing about this dress is that I can easily make it with long sleeves or wear it under jackets and with boots. I may do a step by step tutorial for this because the gathering, fit and sleeve drafting are worth showing. • DIY Refashioned T-Shirt Tutorial! + OOTD

Hi Darlings! This DIY is quick and easy and comes at the request of a fan who is just 12 years old 😉 her names is Jessie and she kindly asked that I do this for her. It is super easy and shown in step by step pics below. TOOLS: Old or new loose fitting t-shirt, ruler, scissors, ribbon, pins, 1 safety pin, scarp piece of fabric in a similar weight and content. Cut a piece of scrap fabric using the measurement you took for the back x 2″ wide. Roll up the front of the shirt so it stays out of your way Pin your scrap to the inside of the shirt (back) and align in the center. Thread your machine with a matching color thread. Sew 3/8″ from the long edge on each side Sew a straight line down the center You should have 3 lines Cut a 36″ piece of ribbon and pin the safety pin to the end of the ribbon Insert from the bottom up one side Then go back in on the other side from the top and out of the bottom. Pull both ends to create the gathering. You can pull as much or as little as you want. Working with the sleeve Fold over 3/8″” and pin until you create 3 pleats in the center of the sleeve Once pinned take it to the sewing machine Sew down the middle of the pleats and backstitch to secure. REMOVE your pins as you get to them. NEVER sew over pins. The End!
