- TBT Leather DIY Dress + Pattern Review V8766
Hi Darlings, I am back home…well for 10 days at least. Today’s #TBT post is of an all time favorite. I made this dress in 2013 from a tiny piece of metallic lambskin leather I had and a tiny bit of this floral stretch fabric. I remember not having enough so I made the entire back out of black stretch ponte, lol! It worked but it certainly was not on purpose at first. The leather on this is like butter and looks amazing, I tried to hunt some down for you but it’s been so long I couldn’t find anything even remotely close ;-( My pattern review of Vogue pattern 8766 is below for you, it’s a great pattern with options which is always a bonus. Pattern Description: Misses Dresses V8766 Fabric Used: Metallic Genuine Leather (optional leather HERE) / Skirt Front: Floral Stretch Cotton / Back: Stretch Knit. (optional fabric HERE) Pattern Sizing: For the bodice I cut the 6 and for the skirt I cut the 8 and graded at the waist. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done? Um I yeah Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, this is a very simple dress to make and I have made several strapless fitted sheaths so it was pretty standard for me. The instructions were clear and the boning is only added at the sides so it came together really quickly. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I knew in my head that dress had less to do with the pattern and everything to do with my fabric choices so the pattern just served as a basic dress pattern to work with. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added 3″ to the length so it would fall just below my knee. Would you sew it again? I think I will make another view since I thought the pattern was pretty good and has options. Would you recommend it to others? Yep! but make sure to make a muslin if you don’t know your pattern sizing well. I had not used this specific pattern before so I did a quick muslin of the top just to avoid any issues with my leather since I did not have much of it. - DIY Jumpsuit + Pattern Review V9075
Hi Darlings! OMG it feels like I haven’t been able to sew anything for myself lately. I was so happy when I took a day just to sew and made Vogue pattern #9075. As soon as I saw it I knew I was going to be making several of these. I reviewed the pattern below for you and added one modification you may want to consider. I am back on a plane today…headed home…Thankfully! I will see you guys tomorrow…xoxo Pattern Description: Misses Jumpsuit Pattern Sizing: I cut the 6 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, this is a no fuss pattern. It sewed up quickly and the princess seams on the bodice make it easy to fit since I always end up needing to make a small bust adjustment. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love a jumpsuit and I love culottes so this was a win win. Fabric Used: I used this great crepe print I found in LA. HERE are some cool rayon prints that will work great. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made a slight adjustment to my bust and I added to the crotch because I made them and found them to be a tad “choking” so I took it apart at the waist and ended up only using a 1/4″ seam allowance so I had some more room. I suggest adding at least an 1″ to the crotch. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? YES!!! and Yes!!!! 9075 #pattern #striped #9075 #vogue #jumpsuit
- My Favorite Quick Dish To Make
Hi Darlings, I keep getting emails about this, and although I know I have shared this before, some of you guys want a step by step… so here we go. I am not a food blogger but I sure do love to eat, lol! Since I like eating yummy dishes that fall on the healthier side I make this dish often. It’s super simple to make and even better the next day…Great to take for lunch. You can use any type of veggies you want but these are first choice. Chop everything up… Cook veggies for a few minutes, make sure not to over cook so they keep their bite. Cook your salmon…I just spray a little non stick spray in my pan, season my salmon with salt, pepper and lemon and let cook for 5 minutes. Once your salmon is cooked add it to your veggies pan… Add your brown rice…I use Uncle Ben’s minute rice. Mix everything and just warm for a few minutes (2 min.) then remove from heat. Now create your dressing… 1/2 Lemon, 1 Teaspoon Dijon Mustard, 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil and wisk vigorously. (note: you can taste your dressing and add more lemon or mustard depending on your taste. Pour your dressing over the rice and mix well… That is all there is to it! Enjoy…xoxo #COOKING #rice #salmon #veggies

- Simple Cleansing Micellar Water
Hi Darlings, I am always on the hunt for great products to use especially for my face. Keeping my face clean and clear is always important to me, especially as I age. I want to be able to protect my skin and keep it glowing as long as I possibly can. I recently started using Simple Cleansing Micellar Water and I love it! It removes my makeup, cleanses my face and hydrates. I love that it is sensitive and kind to my skin and that after I use it don’t have to rinse! Micellar water is the perfect blend of multi-vitamins and gentle cleansers with triple-purified water. I always feel really clean and instantly hydrated after using it. If you want to give it a try (and I suggest you do) you can get a FREE sample HERE so you can #TestTheWater. Compensation for this post was provided by Simple Skincare via AOL Media.
