  • Work It Wednesday! + F21 Look

Hi Darlings Okay so this past week and most of the week before has been a roller coaster so I won’t lie and say that I have even begin T25 lol, I opened it and read the start up guide and meal plans but that was it. I plan to start on Monday so you will have an update soon. Can we also talk about the fact that when I am approaching my cycle (TMI, I know) I become insatiably hungry! does this happen to you guys? it is so bizarre but I feel hungry all the time and no matter what I eat I am still hungry, lol. I have however been running so much that I have been eating really bad, meaning only one meal a day if that and so I by accident have lost 7lbs but not in a good way so they will be back, I am sure, if I don’t get my butt in gear. How are you guys doing? I have a new recipe I plan to try this week which you can check out HERE, I will let you know how it tastes next Wednesday. source: www.laylita.com Now I usually don’t post a OOTD on WIW (Work it Wednesdays) but I love this little $19 dress from F21 that I wanted to share it (I found it in store but there is a similar one HERE). The shoes are from Jessica Simpson (old) and the jacket is also from F21 (similar one HERE)

Hi Darlings! I am feeling better today. I think I slept most of whatever it was away yesterday so this morning I started to get dressed a remembered it was Halloween, lol so I I pulled out my $5 T-shirt from Walmart and put together this get up. Supergirl has a new look, lol!! So off I go to start my day and then end it by taking the kids through the neighborhood. Be blessed and safe dolls and I will see you guys tomorrow in a fab DIY that I have been dying to wear. Booties can be found HERE and my leggings HERE

  • Call Me Heather…Grey Dress + Pattern Review V8667

Hi Darlings! I am so happy you guys are enjoying the “Work It Wednesday” postings. I really like sharing all the different things I am into and try in my everyday life. I have a few more things I want to incorporate soon like beauty postings. I recently have been bit by the makeup bug (It’s my daughters fault, she is obsessed) and so I realized that at 36 years old I NEVER learned how to put on makeup, never wore lipstick and have no idea how to use it. So I have decided that since I am currently fascinated by it that I will start to post my adventures in makeup, lol. Now on to this fabulous dress and pattern! First of all I LOVE this fabric; it is a wool/rayon blend and it is so luxurious. The fabric has a great weight to it so it’s perfect for the changing weather. DIY Dress (similar retail) HERE / Steve Madden Heels HERE / Belt (old) similar HERE or HERE Pattern: V8667 View E Modified Fabric Used: Wool/Rayon Blend Would also be amazing in THIS stretch wool/poly or in any of THESE great colors of Ponte for fall. Pattern Sizing: I cut the 10 because I read in other reviews that it ran small and there was little ease. I should have known to just follow my own judgement since I have made a GAZILLION vogue patterns because I ended up cutting it down to an 8 after the first fitting and then had to remove 3 INCHES! in the bust and skirt! Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope when you were done? Yep except for the long sleeves. Were the instructions easy to follow? The dress is pretty straight forward, it is lend so that is a nice option. I lined it with a light weight silky knit I had in my stash. The collar is easy and there really is not much to it. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the style of it, it is a very classic dress. The collar was also a selling point. I did not like that they did not have a long sleeve option so I made my own. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Just the few I mentioned above. I just redrafted the sleeve to make it long. Would you sew it again? No one of these is enough but it is fab and so I recommend it with a test fit first 😉

  • Work It Wednesday! Recipe Sharing + Gifting!

Hi Darlings! So how did you guys do with the pre-shower workout? I hope some of you found it easy to fit in your schedules. This week I will share another great one I found on pinterest and also a new recipe but I mostly wanted to share my thoughts on TurboFire after another week. TURBOFIRE…..Okay so YES TurboFire will get you sweaty and worked out for sure! It does everything it says it will and more if you follow it completely, I am sure. It is high energy and very hard for those who have bad knees and or other limiting factors but you can ADJUST and make it work for you. After three weeks I will say that if you enjoy dancing and aerobic this will be great for you. Here is my own personal thoughts on why I won’t be continuing, lol I guess I have come to realize that I mostly enjoy non-dancing workouts except for Zumba and I will explain why. I was a dancer for years in both latin and ballroom, and as a teenager I was really into hip hop. Music and dance is, and always has been, a huge part of my life. I have music playing ALL THE TIME. I walk about my day with a personal soundtrack to my life, lol and so because music and dance is so dear to me it is hard to get motivated to dance based workouts because the music is usually not my kind of music, and so the energy just won’t be there for me. When I listen to music it changes dramatically how I am feeling. Most times if you see me while driving you would probably laugh because I have some serious dance parties going on in my car, especially if I am stuck in traffic. So because of that it is hard for me to get into a dance workout when the song playing is something like ” Play that funky music white boy”or Kool & The Gang: Get down on it (both songs I like) just not for this, it just throws me off. The thing is this workout has the best music of all the other ones I have tried and I will say that she did take a lot of time to put this together and there are some songs that come on and I am all like “Hey that is my song” LOL and I am high energy for that 3 minutes and then another song will come on and I am like “um no” and energy is lost again. So that is just MY own issues with staying fully motivated the entire workout. Now Zumba I love but I am a little bias because it is mostly latin based and so I can always dance to salsa, merengue, cumbias etc. it’s the puertorican in me, I can’t help it lol GIFTING…. Okay so because I will not be using it any longer I am going to gift it to someone, if you want to give it a try leave a comment here on the blog and I will pick a winner next week. FOOD…. Photo Source: Williams-Sonoma OMG! so the hardest thing for me is not eating bad carbs, LOL I love bread and potatoes so I am always n the hunt for recipes that incorporate good carbs and good taste! This is one of those recipes. I did make it a little more waistline friendly with a few changes like using low-fat sour cream and buying the lowest calorie corn tortilla I can find. You can find the recipe HERE and make sure to tell me if you have tried any other from the William-Sonoma site. This is also great when you are trying to avoid eating meat with every meal #meatlessmonday I also came across THIS list of recipes that are quick and easy for wraps and sandwiches in an issue of Fitness Magazine WORK IT! So I enjoy trying out workout videos, for me it is a sickness, LOL I love the newness of them and some I can use over and over again and are truly my go to workouts like “Slim & Six” and “10 Minute Trainer” so I am going to add a new one next month to try and report back to you guys. I think I am going to give T25 a try. This week the workout is simple, you ready? go for a walk, run, jog everyday for 5 days. Just 20-30 minutes is all you need to help you get started if you are feeling a little unmotivated or discouraged. Start slow and remember it is NOT how you start but how you FINISH! Someone asked me what Sumo Squats were from last weeks post so here is a video to help you. Also you can do this holding a large bottle of water or nothing at all to start with. • DIY Dress & Pattern Review B5950

Happy Monday Darlings, Today is a glorious day and I have a lunch date with my daughter. We are going to eat and watch a matinee showing of Captain Phillips. I am also truly in love with my metallic dress! THIS FABRIC is just amazing and feels so good on. The metallic foil print is soft and stretches nicely. If you purchase the fabric HERE make sure to use my coupon code “mimi10” DIY Metallic Knit Dress (similar) HERE / Zara Gold Heels (similar) HERE Pattern: B5950 Fabric Used: ITY Foil Print purchased HERE It is so fab and drapes like a dream. Make sure you use my coupon! “MIMI10” Pattern Sizing: I cut the 8 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope when you were done? Yep Were the instructions easy to follow? This is a pretty quick and easy dress to sew up. The instructions are clear and basic. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked the style of the dress and I knew it would look great in my fabric. Simple pattern for a stand out fabric. I did not use elastic in the waist as they suggested and just inserted the zipper. The fabric is a stretch knit but there is a waistline seam so pulling it on is not an option. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None other then my usual grading down, the pattern has a lot of ease. Would you sew it again? Yes I think I may do it again at some point. Would you recommend it to others? Yes 😉 Lesson 2 of our 5 part series is uploading as I type. For all those who already purchased just log on this afternoon as you did before to see the new video. You can start along at any time and watch all the videos that have already been published. • DIY Skirt + Gold Sweater

Hi Darlings, Happy Thursday! today’s look was inspired by a pinterest pin I saw of Reuben Reuel’s collection De-Mes’Tiks and since then I have been on the hunt for African Wax Prints. I found some locally which is what I made skirt out of but am looking for more!! You can find similar fabrics HERE I made the skirt the same way I made the Regal Maxi Skirt which is my most popular TUTORIAL. It is so easy to understand, follow along and can be made for any size and length. The sweater is from H&M from several seasons ago and it is probably my most favorite sweater. The nude heels are also old and from Steve Madden. DIY Skirt (Tutorial) HERE / H&M Gold Sweater (old) similar HERE / Steve Madden Heels (old) similar HERE (on sale) / J. Crew Gold Belt

  • Work It Wednesday! Fitness Tip & Recipe Sharing

Hi Darlings! I hope you guys have had a great week so far. I have been a busy bee to say the least but I did manage to stay on track with my eating. How did you guys do? Today I am going to share a yummy recipe I found on pinterest last week and just used a different ingredient to cut of some of the calories. The recipe is for a pock chop rub (you can use it on chicken, steak fish) that EVERYONE in the house loved, even my 6 year old. The recipe calls for brown sugar but since I need to be watchful of what I am eating especially my sugar intake I replaced the brown sugar with Splenda brown sugar and it was amazing. The recipe comes from BudgetBytes.com and the site owner is Beth. I love his site, not only because she has great recipes but because she shows you the price of the meal and then the price per serving. When you have a big family these are things you need to know right? You can see the recipe HERE and she even shows step by step pics 😉 This is the plate before I swallowed it whole, lol! I could have done without the mash but I only had a bit of it and it was SO GOOD! Okay now…..TurboFire! That woman is insane and I have no idea where she gets all that energy! lol The first day back on a work out was rough but it is fun and energetic so I will report back in another two weeks to give you my FULL thoughts on the program. The meal plan seems pretty easy to follow if you want to do it, but I pretty much stick to balancing my meals with as many clean meals as possible; for example last night we had grilled salmon, salad and green veggies, for breakfast I had plain oatmeal and some grapefruit and then lunch I had a weight watchers frozen dinner. But! what I do swear by and will talk more about in next weeks Work It post, is weight watchers and how I use it to work with my busy schedule. Quick but not easy… Before jumping in the shower I want you to do this quick workout for one week, can you do it? No special equipment, no need for mats or moving furniture. Just do it right before you go into the shower in the morning or evening. source: pineterst
