  • Leather Overalls & Shawl Cardigan

Hi Darlings! I hope you guys are having a great week so far. I had a busy start yesterday and don’t foresee it slowing down anytime soon. Tonight the hubby and I are being interviewed and then stopping by a small gathering to say our hellos and mingle so I wore a very easy day to night look. When the time comes I will add a bit more make up, add a little bling to my neck and change my sweater. Keeping it simple, easy and just a little edgy. When I saw these faux leather overalls at Forever 21 I couldn’t help but try them on and after several attempts at a few other styles they had these were winners! I love them so much and couldn’t wait to wear them. They are such a statement piece already so keeping it simple is key. I’ll be able to wear them with an off the shoulder sweater or button up shirt before it gets to warm here so I plan to take full advantage. • DIY Belted Poncho & Removable Neck Warmer + Pattern Review

Hi Darlings! Todays OOTD is a throw it on and run out the door look lol. I was running so late this morning that I  put some jeans on and grabbed my recently made belted poncho. I made it a few weeks ago but have been so busy I hadn’t had time to wear it. I also made the neck warmer from the extra fabric I had, it is removable so I don’t have to wear it all day, especially when it warms up here in Cali. It’s super simple to make and works great for days when you just need something fabulous to through over some jeans and a t-shirt! I grabbed my red target bag to bring out the red in the plaid and off I went to start my day. I hope you guys have a wonderful day!! DIY Poncho / Gap Jeans / Steve Madden Booties / Target Bag (similar) HERE Pattern Description: M6209 Pattern Sizing: I cut the x-small Fabric: 100% Tartan Plaid Wool HERE Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done? Yes Were the instructions easy to follow? So easy you don’t even need them, lol I could have made this blindfolded…okay maybe to blindfolded but yes it was very easy to make. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I was in need of a great belted poncho and I LOVED the idea of making it in plaid. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None. I made the neck warmer separate and used no pattern. Would you recommend it to others? Yes

  • DIY Wool & Leather Dress + Pattern Review

Hi Darlings! Oh my gosh I am blow away by the amount of support I received from all you on the download of my 2013 Mimi G Photo Lookbook! I have also received a lot of requests for a 2012 book so I am working on that now for you. Thank you so much! Todays look is a wool/leather dress I have been meaning to make for some time now and when I saw B5947 I knew it was the right pattern for the look I wanted. DIY Dress / Steve Madden Over The Knee Boots HERE / Belt F21 Pattern Description: Misses Dress B5947 Fabric Used: Black Wool HERE / Lambskin Leather HERE / Lining HERE  (Pics of the lining below) Pattern Sizing: I cut the size 8 and graded down several inches. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done with it? Yes Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, they are pretty clear. Goes together rather quickly and has princess seams at the bust so makes fitting easier for beginners. The bodice is lined but in the pattern they do NOT line the skirt 0_0 I never understand that so I made the lining myself. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the sleeve length and the clean lines of the dress. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I had to remove almost 2.5″ from the bodice, but that is normal for me since I have a small bust I am always making an SBA (small bust adjustment) I also cut the skirt the smallest size (8) but I ended up having to take that in too. I have a tertian standard alterations I always make with the big 4 pattern companies. I also lowered the neckline by 5/8″ I wanted the high neckline but without the adjustment I felt chocked.  I suggest checking it before you make your dress, it was rather tight prior to my fixing it. I also used a small piece of lambskin leather I had for the front bodice; it was just enough for what I needed. Would you sew it again? I think so because it is one of those patterns that you can alter and ad design elements to. Would you recommend it to others? Yes FULL LINING Body lining: I made the lining for the skirt by cutting the same pattern pieces given for the skirt in lining fabric. Both the hem of the lining and the hem of the skirt are served and I blind stitched the hem of the skirt. The sleeve lining A look at the zipper on the right and wrong side.

  • DIY Pullover Dress + Pattern Review V8825

Hi Darlings!!!! It is Christmas Eve and my hubby’s birthday! We are going to have a wonderful lunch and celebrate his birthday and then tonight we will celebrate with the family. I pulled out this lovely dress I made about two weeks ago but hadn’t had a chance to wear it. This dress has quickly become a favorite because I love the two piece barrel cuff sleeves!!! I reviewed the pattern below for you and have added a link to the fabric I used. I paired my dress with my favorite nude shoes of the moment. A nude shoe is always great to help elongate the legs and I can never resist wearing nude shoes with a bright colored dress. I want to wish you all a wonderful Merry Christmas and I will see you guys on the 26th. Be well, be blessed and be joyful. DIY Dress / Steve Madden Heels HERE / H&M Necklace (old) Pattern Description: Misses Dress Fabric Used: Knit (feels like an ITY) HERE Pattern Sizing: I Cut the 8 (31B, 24W, 33.5H) and had to shave it down a lot. I took out almost 3″ off the skirt portion and 2″ off the top. I also added 2.5″ in length. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done? Yes Were the instructions easy to follow? This is a Vogue “Easy” so yes I found it to be rather straight forward. There is no real complicated or confusing steps. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the wrap front, the sleeves and the tie belt which is attached to the dress. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added length and had to shave it down some to fit. Would you sew it again? No, I have so many dress patterns to sew 😉 but this is a winner for sure. Would you recommend it to others? YES! #review #knits #pattern #ity #v8825

  • Daytime Glam! DIY Top & Sequin Leggings

Hi Darlings!! We had a Christmas program at the church yesterday so of course I spent Saturday night making something to wear for Sunday, lol. I self drafted the peplum mini dress from a bodice block I made for myself and used my TNT (tried and true) leggings pattern that I made years ago from an old pair. I have been meaning to make sequin leggings for some time and what better time to get sequins out of my system than during the holidays. I used THIS black stretch mini sequins fabric for my leggings. They also have the same fabric in PINK, GOLD, TURQUOISE, BLACK & PURPLE. The fabric for my peplum mini is a wool/rayon blend I had in my stash.
