- OOTD: #DIY Striped Dress + Steve Madden Wedges
Hi Darlings! Hope you are having a good week so far! I was hoping to have the fishtail maxi tutorial up by today but life came calling over the weekend and so sewing had to take a back seat, however I have already told the hubby that his services are needed this weekend to finish the tut 😉 I also ended up shopping for my youngest on Monday because I swear he woke up that morning and nothing fit! so off to the Gap we went to get him fitted for at least the next month or two before he starts to outgrow these too. Today I am rocking a DIY dress I made ages ago with THIS fabric and posted about HERE using B5706 which I had to modify a LOT to get the fit I wanted. This was of course before I decided to just make them myself and created the T-Shirt Maxi Tutorial. If you have the tutorial all you have to do is measure down the length you want it and stop there. If you don’t have it you can get it HERE and it is super easy to make! And you can read a review HERE done my plus size muse Kelly who rock it out! Additional Fabric Choices: HERE, HERE & HERE I aslo used THIS Pro Sheer Elegance interfacing for my neck facing. - McCalls 6556 Pullover Dress w/ Gap Skinnies + Pattern Review for Beginners
Hi Darlings! Can you tell I am in a casual sort of mood this week, I think all my “dressiness” was exhausted on Easter, LOL. This pattern is one of my favorites mainly because it is so comfy and although it is meant to be a dress I have only ever worn it as a top (Previously worn HERE) this pattern is UBER easy and GREAT project for BEGINNERS and since I did not review it when I made it last year I added a review for all my fab newbies who need a good easy pattern to work with. Pattern: McCalls 6556 Fabric Used: Striped Bamboo Knit (similar) HERE and it would be amazing in THIS Blue and White Stripe! or THIS LEOPARD lightweight sweater knit USE YOUR COUPON: MIMIAPRIL10 Pattern Sizing: I cut the 4 Were the instructions easy to follow? Yep. This is a really good beginner pattern because it is really easy to sew with a few straight lines and some neck binding, which a newbie you could even skip if you like the raw edge look. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love that this is fast to make, easy and comfy! I also love that it can be worn as a top like I do or as a dress but the best part is that depending on the fabric used it can be casual or a little dressier. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did raise the neckline a bit because at the time I felt it was too low but when I make another one I think Ill try it with the neckline a little lower. Would you sew it again? YES Would you recommend it to others? YES DIY Draped Top (similar) HERE (on sale) and HERE / Gap Skinnies HERE / Steve Madden Platforms (old) similar look HERE, HERE and HERE / Coach Bag (old) but THIS one is AMAZING!!! —————————————————————— Coats & Clark, Fiskars, Bernina, Jalie Patterns, Jo-Ann, Pattern Review, Michael Levine , Create for Less

- My Easter #DIY Dress and #DIY Cocktail Fascinator
Hi Darlings! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter Sunday. I had a great time with the fam and the hubby always plays the part of Jesus during the Easter play and so I video tapes just a minute or two of it for you guys to see (below). Now regarding this fabulous dress and cake topper, LOL… Sometime between Monday and Saturday I lost my sewing mojo and could not for the life of me get the energy to finish this dress, sometimes it happens that way but I had a “LOOK” in my head for my outfit and I knew I wouldn’t be happy if I didn’t finish so around midnight I finally got er’ done! I used my wiggle dress sloper which I created years ago from M2718 fitting shell pattern. This is a great idea for anyone who likes a certain style of dress because the shell helps me to make different design changes to a basic dress sloper AND saves me a ton of time since I have it made up in a muslin that I have already spent the time fitting to myself it makes it easy to recreate dress after dress without the headache of fitting every time. The fabric is a glorious shade of yellow which is SO HARD to find but while I was at Michael Levine’s last month I saw it and bought like 4 yards, LOL they have some online HERE but not sure it will last long before selling out because the color is so rich and yummy. I then decided that my wiggle dress needed to have a little something special so I pulled out some tulle and made myself a cocktail fascinator 😉 this was so much FUN to make and I will be doing a tutorial!! I wore this gold sparkly belt although you cant really tell how sparkly it is in the pic it was 😉 I bought it last year at Express and it just snaps in the back. I hope you enjoyed your day like I enjoyed mine and I will leave you with a snippet of my hubby’s performance as Jesus. ———————————————–
- Fitness & Health The Mimi G Way
I posted this on facebook the other day so I am sharing it here for non facebook followers….. I am going to start a fitness tab on the blog where I will post my tips, workouts, my food and recipes etc. to help those who have written to me countless times about changing your bodies and getting healthy! and or ask me what I do to stay fit and keep my curves, etc…….So I want to know a few things from you guys just so I can address them as we go along, you don’t need to answer them all but just share one or two. What have you tried? What is the most difficult for you? Do you think you need to feel accountable to someone? Do you start with excitement and then fizzle out after a week or two? What are your weaknesses? How quickly do you give up? xoxo Mimi G
