- MIMI G FOR SIMPLICITY FALL PATTERNS 2 OF 3
HI DARLINGS! Well here she is… My baby girl Imani on the cover of my MIMI G FOR SIMPLICITY TWEENS pattern. I am so proud 😉 I am so excited to be adding the tween’s division to my collections for Simplicity. I have such a fun time designing them with my 13 year old daughter in mind because I think children should dress appororiate for their age and we can’t always find what she wants to wear in stores. Now we can just make them! The next Tween pattern will be for Spring and I am really excited about it. I won’t be making a video for this one BUT it will be used in my “SEW IT! Kids” course out in August. I hope you will have fund sewing for your daughters, nieces or friends. xoxo FABRIC: Her dress fabric can be found HERE and her leggings are a rub knit from my stash. *Patterns out mid August* ✂️ WISH YOU COULD SEW?✂️ WISH YOU COULD SEW? - MIMI G FOR SIMPLICITY FALL PATTERNS 1 OF 3
HI DARLINGS! I am so excited to finally have the office in order so we can get back to work. I have not had time to photograph new DIY’s because I haven’t had the studio set up to sew but now I am ready to get going. I also can’t wait to show you my new machines courtesy of Baby Lock who generously outfitted our new office. What is most exciting however is the upcoming release of my new FALL PATTERNS FOR SIMPLICITY! which includes an additional JUNIORS DESIGN. My 13 daughter was so excited about this because she is the model on that envelope! I will be posting that tomorrow and then I have one more awesome fall pattern to post on Thursday. As usual the patterns will be available online next month and at your local Joann, Walmart, Hobby Lobby etc. I also will post when the step-by-step videos are posted. This dress is everything! it’s so comfy to wear and can be dressed up or down depending on your fabric choice. It can also be made from woven or a knit as shown below. FABRIC: The fabric options are always on the back of the envelope but I used this printed pebble crepe I got from THE FABRIC STORE on LaBrea and the other solid dress is of a double knit. ✂️ WISH YOU COULD SEW?✂️ Our 👉🏽ONLINE👈🏽 sewing academy is perfect for beginners. ✔️Courses can be taken at anytime. ✔️Designed for true beginners. ✔️Start and work at your own pace ✔️Monthly payment is automatic so you never miss a course ✔️Each new course builds on the last ✔️Only $11.97 a month SIGN UP NOW
- MY DAILY MICRO WORKOUT!
HI DARLINGS! I was so excited when I got an email from OLD NAVY asking if I would like to collaborate on the #OLDNAVYACTIVE campaign. Aside from the AMAZING activewear like my “Gym Hair Don’t Care” Graphic Tank and these amazing Go-Dry Compression Crops! which of course I had to share, I was most excited about the ability to challenge myself to get active and then inspire YOU to join me! Here is the deal, I am challenging myself for 30 days and I want you to challenge yourself too! Here is how I am going to do it… Everyday I am going to simply MOVE! get my blood flowing and start building endurance by doing a micro workout. I even put it on video for you. I am going to eat cleaner. I have a terrible habit of not eating all day and then stuffing my face at the end of the day. NO MORE! I am going to eat small meals throughout the day of “good for me” foods. Drink water! I use to be good at this but over the last year I have become so busy with my business that I have totally neglected my health. So now that you know what the challenge is here is the video and below are some tips to keep you motivated. BTW, the Go-Dry Compression Crops I have on in the video are EVERYTHING! Not only do they keep my body dry and cool but they keep things in place while I work out and they are high-waisted. I am wearing a size medium in the crops and a small in the Go-Dry Fitted Seamless Tank. I know it may sound silly but how you look while you work out really does help! I like to be “cute” because it makes me feel better and therefore I do better. OLD NAVY makes the cute part easy with their new activewear line which you can find HERE
- MY BIG ASS DIY CUTTING TABLE
HI DARLINGS! Oh my goodness my life is crazy insane right now so let me catch you up since I have not blogged since the conference recaps. Mimi G Style has outgrown the office (YAY FOR GROWTH) but that also meant having to find a larger office so that I could run Mimi G Style, Tieko and Mimi and my other projects that run outside of the DIY world 😉 I was able to find a gorgeous office space just over 1000 sq. feet in the fashion district and I couldn’t be happier but I had to move in right after the conference (why do I do these things to myself, LOL) I also needed to make sure I had everything I needed in place for all of the projects in the pipeline. If you sew you know that finding a cutting table is like searching for a needle in haystack. I decided I was going to DIY this baby because I didn’t just need a cutting table I needed a “BIG ASS” cutting table… Now I wish I could take the credit for this but really I was inspired by THIS post by 4men1lady.com and just added a third set of legs and center support since my table was much larger than theirs. They have instructions on how they made the table which is what I used to guide me and so should too if you want to make your own table. GO HERE FOR INSTRUCTIONS… but below are are few things that may help you… HOME DEPOT is awesome and in case you didn’t know they cut wood and pipe for you so that makes this even easier. I choose 2×12 planks that were 11 feet long! I bought the supporting beams as 2×4’s instead of the 1×4’s because of how big there table was going to be. I did not account for the height added by the connectors so we ended up having to cut down the pipes by 4″ Put the legs together first including the center support pipes then alight your support beams evenly. This will avoid any uneven beams in the event your pipes and connectors are off just a bit. Because we added a third set of legs we had to buy a 4 way connector for the center. Now we just need to get the office set up and we are back in business. Thank you so much for your patience!! I will be back to posting on a regular schedule again by next week. I hope this helps if you want to make a table and lets all thank 4men1lady.com for doing the hard part for us, LOL!
