  • MY VINTAGE VELVET DIY TWO PIECE

HI DARLINGS! Well, I told you I was currently obsessing with vintage patterns. This is the same vintage vogue I made the light blue jacket and white pants from which I posted about HERE. I made it again in this gorgeous blue velvet and I am in freaking love! The velvet fabric is just so rich and yummy and I can’t get enough. I am going to lay this pattern to rest for a bit but you better believe I will be modifying it again someday and making a few more looks. I also have to point out that NORRIS made a velvet jumpsuit after I told him what a great idea it would be and now I am totally hating on him for being so dope and making an amazeballs jumpsuit, LOL! (he doesn’t usually post until later in the day but it’s def going up today)

  • DIY LARGE COLLAR JACKET AND PANTS USING VINTAGE VOGUE

HI DARLINGS! I don’t often use vintage patterns mostly because I know you guys can’t always find them but I have been on a vintage kick of sorts. I have made three vintage makes in the last two weeks so I am sorry in advance if you can’t find this VINTAGE VOGUE 8625 pattern. I also made the pants which were a super quick make. I love this collar and the elastic waistband. I decided to use snaps for this one (I made another one in velvet–coming soon) and made the pants from a light weight crepe de chine. The fabric for my jacket is from MICHAEL LEVINE The item number is #P1304 you can always call the store and ask them for the fabric Mimi is wearing in this pic and they will find it for you. #fashion #sweater #sewing #pattern #style #jacket #michaellevine #vogue #DIY

  • DVF INSPIRED DRESS USING SIMPLICITY #8415

HI DARLINGS! Okay so a big reason why we all sew is to be able to recreate designer looks for less so I just like many scour new collections released by my favorite designers and I save those looks to my PINTEREST boards. When I come across the fabric I can use to recreate something I buy it immediately because I have learned that if I go out specifically looking for something I am never going to find it, so I just wait and sure enough when I least expect it I will find something that will work. That is exactly what happened with this DVF dress. I fell in love with this dress! It was a simple modification but if you want me to make a YOUTUBE video for my CHANNEL let me know, and I will show you how I modified the pattern. The fabric collection is “Blake Cotton Jersey” by Carolyn Friedlander and it’s beautiful. You can get it HERE at LA FINCH FABRICS. Let me know in the comments if you want a step by step on this modification! SaveSave

  • The Essential Guide to a Perfect Wardrobe Courses Plus 50% Off

HI DARLINGS! So if you did not make it to the conferee this year you missed out on Joy Macdonell’s amazing class “The Essential Guide to a Perfect Wardrobe: Finding Your Style” and The Essential Guide to a Perfect Wardrobe: Picking a Palette  These are the best courses I have taken in a long time and as a seasoned seamstress I still often make things just because new patterns release and I want to sew them up instead of really taking time figure out what my everyday wardrobe is lacking. I often say I don’t have anything to wear because I am making things for the blog but not always just for myself. JOY ALSO HAS A DISCOUNT CODE FOR YOU! USE FALL2017 AT CHECKOUT AND GET 50% OFF COURSES: “The Essential Guide to a Perfect Wardrobe: Finding Your Style” Learn to strategically translate your style to your closet and plan for your new wardrobe projects. Building a wardrobe takes skill and organization. Evaluating your lifestyle, your favorite garment pieces, colors, and fabrics will lead you to the answers you need to curate a collection of your favorite garments. In this class, we will clean out our closets and find our hang-ups. We will learn to think about what garments we love to buy and need to make over and over again. By the end of the class you will have a plan for how to shop for new garments, fabrics, materials, and sewing & knitting patterns and know what garment you want to make or buy next. The Essential Guide to a Perfect Wardrobe: Picking a Palette Color is a language that communicates without words. Your personality is represented in the colors you choose to wear in your wardrobe. Your mood, feelings, and attitudes can all be effected by the color you wear. In addition, your wardrobe is key to eliciting the emotional response you want from others. Color harmony is essential to a wardrobe. In creating a palette to wear, instead of focusing on a single color, a range of colors should be selected. A wardrobe with a personal color palette will confidently express your style. Enjoy this promo video and SIGN UP HERE ABOUT JOY Joy Macdonell is a professional Maker and Content Creator. HI DARLINGS! Happy Monday 😉 Todays look is an #OOTD from my favorite store FREE PEOPLE this jumpsuit is everything and yes I plan to use it as a guide to make a pair. The top is a rib knit and the bottoms are a linen blend. The open back is so nice and sexy, if you cant go without a bra you can wear a cute bralette with a lace or barely there back. I wore my DOLCE & GABBANA sunnies and these old STEVE MADDEN BOOTIES (SIMILAR HERE) that I love. I have had them for several years now and they are so comfortable to wear. • PINSTRIPE SHIRT DRESS SIMPLICITY 8340

HI DARLINGS! I made this SIMPLICITY 8340 once before a few months back (you can see it HERE), and I loved the pattern. I made it again in this pin stripe and used another similar fabric with wider stripes to create a little interest in the pockets, collar, cuffs and back yoke. Sometimes the subtle modifications are the best 😉 This rope necklace was a find at H&M I think, and every time I wear it people ask me about it. I need to buy some rope and recreate it. I wore these heeled sandals that I have had in my closet for ages and hardly wear. I have really enjoyed growing my hair out; this crazy tousled look makes me feel sexy, lol. I hope you have a great day and I will see you again Friday. If you haven’t picked up this pattern, I would suggest grabbing asap. The pattern has so many possibilities. By the way, do you see those damn ant bites on my legs!!!! OMG remind me never to lay in the grass in shorts to play with buttons, They itch so bad lol! SaveSave SaveSave SaveSave
