  • DIY STRIPED JUMPSUIT USING VOGUE 9259

HI DARLINGS! This has been a long week, and I am looking forward to the weekend. Do you guys have plans for the Memorial Day? I am hoping just to take it easy. Now on to today’s DIY! This jumpsuit has been in the queue for sewing for a long time, but when I got this great fabric from MOOD, I thought it would be cool to play with the stripes. More details about the patterns, modifications, and fabrics below. COLLECTIONS If you missed my previous two posts on the #DIYYELLOWCOLLECTION, you can check them out HERE. My #DIYDENIMBLUECOLLECTION can be found HERE, and my #DIYPINKCOLLECTION can be found HERE. DIY TIE TOP PATTERN INFO & MODIFICATIONS This is VOGUE 9259. The jumpsuit is pretty straightforward, and it came together really quickly. I decided to line the bodice, so I cut four instead of 2, and I also took the zipper all the way up through the waistband instead of using a hook and eye which I don’t like doing. Now regarding fit… I don’t have a large bust so the top was no issue for me but I have read a lot of reviews that say the bodice creates gaping at the bodice if you have a full bust so I would suggest making a quick muslin and if you get gaping create a bust dart to take up the excess. The fabric is a knit from MOOD STYLE IT GENERIC BRAND SHOES | ZARA EARRINGS SaveSave SaveSave SaveSave SaveSave SaveSave SaveSave #review #sewing #pattern #mccall #patternreview #vogue #DIY #stripes

  • DIY TIE FRONT TOP & WRAP SKIRT USING VOGUE & SIMPLICITY PATTERNS

HI DARLINGS! I love this outfit so much. The end. LOL! This DIY  tie-top pattern from SIMPLICITY is so fast to make and so fun to wear. I paired the top with a DIY skirt which is a VOGUE dress pattern I just decided to make as skirt instead. DIY TIE TOP PATTERN INFO & MODIFICATIONS This is SIMPLICITY 5555 and I love this pattern. First, it’s a vintage pattern they brought back and second; it sews up so fast. I lined it because my knit was pretty thin and also because its cleaner than just turning under the seam allowance. I think I was done with the top in 20 minutes, lol. I used a slub knit from my stash. The skirt is actually VOGUE 9313 a dress pattern. I had this great honeycomb knit in my stash that has one yellow stripe, I knew I was going to make a skirt because I only had just over a yard of it. I decided to use the bottom portion of the Vogue pattern and then use the strip for the front panel. I had just enough to cut the front bands out of yellow which worked out really cool. This fabric came from Michael Levine I think but I have had it for some time now so I am not positive. • DIY SHIRTDRESS USING SIMPLICITY #8384

HI DARLINGS! Happy Monday. Today is all about this DIY SHIRTDRESS using SIMPLICITY #8384 and how much I love it. This is #2 of my #DIYYELLOWCOLLECTION, and although the main color isn’t yellow, I thought I would add coordinating fabrics, prints, stripes to this collection for more interest. I love coordinating fabrics for the collections as opposed to doing all one color fabrics which is what I initially thought I would do. This, however, works better for mixing and matching. The stripes on the shirt are yellow, and I am wearing my yellow shoes and earrings. More details on the pattern, fabric, and modifications below. COLLECTIONS If you missed my previous two posts on the #DIYYELLOWCOLLECTION you can check them out HERE. My #DIYDENIMBLUECOLLECTION can be found HERE and my #DIYPINKCOLLECTION can be found HERE. DIY SHIRTDRESS PATTERN INFO & MODIFICATIONS This is SIMPLICITY 8384 and I love this pattern. I have had this in my pattern stash for a long time but I had yet to make it. I finally decided to use it for my shirting fabric. I made a few modifications. I shortened it a bit, added cuffs and made the sash. I love a bow and love making self-fabric sashes and belts, especially for dresses. I decided to use white shirting for the button band, collar and then added the white cuffs. The sash is just two long pieces sewn at the CB and then folded in half, stitched and turned right side out. I wrapped it twice and tied the bow. I love that back has an elastic casing which made fitting pretty easy and also makes the dress very comfortable and allows you to pull on the dress. I love the pockets! and will definitely be making this dress again. The fabric is a striped shirting from MOOD FABRICS. • DIY YELLOW SILK MAXI DRESS USING SIMPLICITY #8635

HI DARLINGS! This is the first piece in my #DIYYELLOWCOLLECTION. This silk maxi dress using SIMPLICITY #8635 is going to get made a lot, lol. Full details on my modifications and fabric are below. The #DIYYELLOWCOLLECTION is for sure going to be one of my favorite collections. This one is dressier than my #DIYDENIMBLUECOLLECTION. If you missed the BLUE or PINK collections you can catch up. HERE and HERE. I did a FABRIC HAUL VIDEO and talked about my fabric picks, and in that post, I also talked about my plans for this collection including patterns I plan to use. DIY YELLOW SILK MAXI INFO & MODIFICATIONS SIMPLICITY 8635 is great summer pattern and the back is just so fabulous! I decided I wanted to make View A  which is the dress with the back from View C which is a jumpsuit, and since I was using a semi-sheer striped silk fabric I needed to create a lining for the skirt. I decided on a nude fabric for the lining which also gave the back a clean finish. I added 2′ to the length so I could do a 2.5″ wide hem. I got the fabric at MOOD in DOWNTOWN LA STYLED IT H&M EARRINGS (can be found HERE) | STEVE MADDEN HEELS SaveSave SaveSave

  • TIE DYE JUMPSUIT USING MCCALLS 7756

HI DARLINGS! I hope you had a beautiful Mother’s Day being celebrated or celebrating a special mother in your life. I had the most fabulous weekend, it was relaxing and full of foods that I haven’t been able to eat since I started my weight loss transition, lol it has been hard but so worth it. I got a long way to go but this weekend was just what I needed to treat myself, but now I am back to clean eating! Well, I am so excited to say this is the last piece in my DENIMBLUECOLLECTION and I am glad because I am on to my DIYYELLOWCOLLECTION and it’s so pretty, lol. I will do a recap video of my DENIMBLUECOLLECTION for my YOUTUBE CHANNEL, and that should be up on Saturday. My final look is this amazing tie-dye jumpsuit using MCCALL 7756, detail and pattern info below. DENIM BLUE COLLECTION Here is a look at all the pieces from my DENIMBLUECOLLECTION! D IY TIE-DYE JUMPSUIT INFO AND MODIFICATIONS This MCCALL 7756 pattern is so great, and I can’t wait to make it again. I think I am adding this it to my yellow collection with some leg modifications for an even more boho look. I did not need to make any changes to this, and it fit great, I cut a size 10 for the top and 12 for the bottom and then just graded at the waist. The TIE DYE DENIM fabric is from JOANN fabric which I was so surprised to find. It is drapey and lightweight and was perfect for this. The front tie is pretty revealing, but since I don’t have much in the boob department, it’s not really a big deal, lol. You could always wear a tank or a lacy sports bra. • DIY BOYFRIEND JEANS USING CLOSET CASE MORGAN JEANS PATTERN

HI DARLINGS! If you have not made your own DIY BOYFRIEND JEANS, you really should do it asap. If you are a member of SEWITACADEMY.COM you are in luck because we are making our own jeans this coming month. I have made my skinny jeans for a long time and having my SIMPLICITY PATTERN for jeans I have just used my pattern but being a huge fan of CLOSET CASE PATTERNS I wanted to try her MORGAN JEANS. Whenever I try to buy retail boyfriend jeans they never seem to work well, they end up being too snug in one area, not comfy or just end up looking like skinny jeans if I try to get them to fit at the waist and the hips (sigh). I finally decided to add the MORGAN JEANS to my #DENIMBLUECOLLECTION, and I am so glad I did. This is number #7 of my #DENIMBLUECOLLECTION. Pattern, fabric, and details are below. If you have missed the first six looks from my #DENIMBLUECOLLECTION, you can check them all out HERE. DIY BOYFRIEND JEANS INFO AND MODIFICATIONS These MORGAN JEANS are fantastic! I love the way these jeans fit, and they are so comfortable. I made these in about 4 hours and had very few fit issues. The only modification I had to make was to create shaping at the knee because I have very large calves so I often get a lot of excess fabric in the knee area that I pinch out while I have them on. It creates a much better fit for me. I did need to take in the CB a bit because I have a very deep sway back and I adjusted the waistband for that. Aside from those two modifications, these came together perfectly and I will be making these A LOT! The slouchy boyfriend fit is dead-on with this pattern. For the next pair, I will make one change to the crotch; I like my waistband to sit a little lower on my boyfriend jeans so I will be shortening the crotch length by about 1″. The really great thing about these is the button fly! I love it so much. It was incredibly easy to construct, has a great finish and Heather’s instructions are always top notch. The denim is from Joann, and it has about 1% spandex. • DIY JUMPSUIT USING MY SIMPLICITY 8060 PATTERN

HI DARLINGS! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Today’s look from my #DENIMBLUECOLLECTION is this  DIY JUMPSUIT using my very own SIMPLICITY #8060 pattern which has a SEW-ALONG VIDEO. I have made this several times and will keep making it because it’s the best jumpsuit pattern ever and can be made with many fabrics for completely different looks. This is number #6 of my #DENIMBLUECOLLECTION. Pattern, fabric, and details are below. If you have missed the first four looks from my #DENIMBLUECOLLECTION, you can check them all out HERE. I have 3 more to show you after today! DIY JUMPSUIT INFO AND MODIFICATIONS This is SIMPLICITY #8060 which also has a SEW-ALONG as mentioned above. I did not make any modifications to this one aside from not adding the pocket flaps. I used this brushed cotton fabric I have had in my stash for a while now. I love how worn out the fabric looks. I wanted to be able to wear it with both heels and sneakers so this was perfect. I used snaps and a hook an eye for the waist, I also used drawstring cord and clamps which just gave the jumpsuit a cool look. I have made this several times and what I love is how you get a completely different look depending on fabric, you can see the one I made in a brocade fabric HERE and in an army green stretch twill HERE. • DIY COLD SHOULDER TOP TURNED DRESS

HI DARLINGS! Happy Friday and happy DIY COLD SHOULDER TOP TURNED DRESS, Ha! Seriously tho I can’t believe it’s been another week of workouts and clean eating and I am down 6lbs in just under 2.5 weeks. I think when I reach my goal I will blog about what I did, ate and how I lost it, sound interesting? I feel great and have so much more energy now, more energy to sew! This is number #5 of my #DENIMBLUECOLLECTION. Pattern, fabric, and details are below. This dress is actually a top pattern which I talk about below. If you have missed the first four looks from my #DENIMBLUECOLLECTION, you can check them all out HERE. I have 4 more to show you and I am so thrilled!! DIY COLD SHOULDER TOP TURNED DRESS INFO AND MODIFICATIONS This is one of the latest MCCALL PATTERNS #7750 which I plan to make as a top too but when I first saw it I knew I was going to extend to make it a dress. I love doing that, lol. This is super easy because you just extend the length but aside from that the top pattern itself sews up so quickly, It’s an easy pattern to sew and I think start to finish maybe took me an hour. For the top I plan to use silk in a bright color 😉 for the dress, however, I used an ITY KNIT fabric from MICHAEL LEVINE STYLED IT CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN HEELS | H&M EARRINGS SaveSave SaveSave SaveSave SaveSave SaveSave

  • DIY LOW BACK NETTIE DRESS USING A CLOSET CASE PDF PATTERN

HI DARLINGS! Today was leg day at the gym so I may be unable to walk for the next few days, lol. So glad I photographed this DIY LOW BACK NETTIE DRESS a few days ago. DIY LOW BACK NETTIE DRESS INFO AND MODIFICATIONS This PDF pattern is awesome! It has options for the back and front so you can choose the front scoop and how low or not low you want the back. It also has a bodysuit option which I plan to make soon. The pattern is from CLOSET CASE PATTERNS. The instructions are always top notch and this is the third CLOSET CASE pdf pattern I have made, all of them were clear and tape up quickly. I did not make any modifications to this pattern.
