  • DIY TWO PIECE USING THE OGDEN CAMI & MCCALL 7813 SKIRT

HI DARLINGS! It’s finally starting to cool off here in Los Angeles although that doesn’t mean much because tomorrow it can be 100 degrees again, lol! This was the last summer piece I made before I started sewing my fall plans and I love it so much. I also love that I can wear it through the fall as separates and with a jacket. I made several changes to the OGDEN CAMI as you can see but I chat about that below. This look is very cool and so comfy and since I wanted to add interest I used the stripes in different ways. PATTERN INFO & MODIFICATIONS Ok, tomorrow on my INSTAGRAM I am posting a video to my IGTV where I share the process of making this look so check it out. I basically created a CF seam on the OGDEN CAMI pattern and then created facings since I planned on making it a button front, the buttons are fully functional. I used covered buttons because it just worked so much better than trying to find the right button for this. Here is a look at the inside front and back facings. MCCALL 7813 and it’s very easy to sew! It doesn’t “wrap” much so if you move too much it will show more than you want, lol so I used two small snaps along the front to keep things closed. The fabric is from MOOD, I don’t know what the fabric content is but it is a cotton blend of sorts. I can’t find it online but I was just there and they still had it in store so maybe you can call and reference my post, lol.

  • DIY CARDIGAN USING SIMPLICITY #8742 VIEW C

HI DARLINGS! You know those days when you just can’t muster up mental energy to sew anything complicated? I know I do so when that happens I reach for a no-brainer pattern. This cardigan pattern is perfect for an easy no fuss sewing project and who doesn’t need a cardigan? I am in a weird place right now and have been feeling like dumping 90% of my fabric stash and from now on just buying fabric for whatever project I currently want to make. I find that the more fabric I have the harder it is to focus on one project. More on the pattern and fabric below. My dress is not a DIY I got it for like $14 at FOREVER 21, they only have it in BLACK & NAVY HERE but they have it in PLUS SIZES in other colors. INFO & MODIFICATIONS This SIMPLICITY 8742 pattern is pretty straightforward. I cut the XS size and I didn’t make any changes but now that I have made it I would shorten it just a bit, I always forget I am 5’4″ HA! so taking a few inches off would have just looked a bit better proportion wise. I wish I could tell you about this fabric but I have had this in my stash for so many years! It’s an animal print terry knit. Details on the pattern and fabric are below! PATTERN INFO & MODIFICATIONS This is VOGUE 9293 VIEW B, there is just one modification to this one, I added was a fully lined bodice vs the binding they have you do. • ONE DIY SUIT SIX STYLE OPTIONS WITH VIDEO

HI DARLINGS! On Friday I posted my PURPLE LINEN SUIT, and you guys loved it so much. This suit look might be my favorite sewn garment in a long time. The color of the suit is so pretty, and the shoes I wore broke the internet, lol! However, I think it’s so important that you make the most of your sewn garments. We all need a little style inspiration so I thought it would be a good idea if I started making style videos of my DIY clothes to help you guys see the many looks you can get from one piece or in this case two, a suit jacket and pants. I used my  SIMPLICITY 8749 PATTERN which also has sew-along videos HERE, and HERE so you can sew with me. ONE SUIT SIX LOOKS STYLE VIDEO PICS BELOW SIX LOOKS This first look is my go to, I love sneakers and a suit and wearing a crisp white tee, and some bright white sneakers is a great look. • MY DIY PURPLE LINEN SUIT AND OGDEN CAMI

HI DARLINGS! I couldn’t wait to post my purple suit, lol. When I tell you I am a bit obsessed with my SIMPLICITY 8749 PATTERN. I have already made it in a grey suiting and obviously, in the wool plaid you see on the pattern envelope but I want a few color suits like this purple linen one. I plan on making a yellow one really soon and maybe one more plaid one, lol. This suit is not only great fitting and flattering but it can be rocked so many ways so I made a STYLE VIDEO that I am posting on Monday showing you 6 ways to get the most out of these two pieces. I can’t wait to post it! You can see the previous GREY SUIT POST HERE and you guys know I have SEW-ALONG videos for all my patterns which you can find on my YOUTUBE CHANNEL. Details on my fabric and modifications below. PATTERN INFO AND MODIFICATIONS The pattern is my SIMPLICITY 8749 I know I designed it and because of that, I think it’s awesome BUT all that aside it is a great pattern, not overly complicated for a suit, has a great fit and so many possibilities. I love the linen which I bought at MICAHEL LEVINE some time ago and the silk stripe fabric I got at the FABRIC STORE before they closed the LaBrea shop. I shortened the jacket by two inches this time and used the OGDEN CAMI PATTERN for my top. I love that pattern and have used a million times already. STYLE IT STEVE MADDEN BOOTIES | GUCCI SUNNIES

  • MY FAVORITE NEW LIGHT N GO CORDLESS IRON!

HI DARLINGS! You know that as designers and DIY’ers we rely heavily on our irons just as much as our sewing machines. We sew and press, sew and press, that is how we create amazing garments so having a great iron is so important. When Black + Decker reached out about their new BLACK+DECKER Light ‘N Go Cordless Iron I was ready and willing to give it a try. BLACK+DECKER Light ‘N Go Cordless Iron that I plan on getting one for the house too. Make sure to visit the link and check it out! This is post is in partnership with Black + Decker

  • DIY FLORAL HALTER DRESS THAT ALMOST DIDN’T MAKE IT

HI DARLINGS! Happy Monday. I am headed to Chicago today with mom to visit my aunt. I can’t wait to get there and hang out with family and eat, I miss my hometown. Before heading to the airport I made sure I recorded today’s episode of BUSINESS SHET which is up now and I did my blog post for today, Wednesday and Friday so I could enjoy my time in the Chi. This dress almost didn’t happen, it was a test to check fit on SIMPLICITY 8594 and I ended up liking it so it’s now a wearable muslin, lol. I had bought this STRETCH TWILL fabric at JOANN and wasn’t crazy about it after bringing it home (this happens a lot) so I used it as a muslin, but after it was finished everyone who saw it said how much they loved the fabric, LOL! So here is my dress… I didn’t make any modifications and I cut size 8. The fabric is a STRETCH TWILL which feels a little like a lightweight denim. It’s a cute dress and I like the neckline a lot!

  • OOTD: MY NEW FAVORITE JEANS AND SLEEVELESS TURTLENECK

HI DARLINGS! I have worn these ZARA jeans at least five times since I bought them just over two weeks ago, lol. They are so comfy and stretchy and high waisted, all the things I love. The top is also from ZARA It’s a ribbed halter and it fits like a glove. I made to sure to grab the yellow one too, I was hoping they would have the jeans in a blue denim but theis is the only wash. I wore my favorite booties from year ago, I got them at WILD PAIR, that is how long I have had them. Before you ask I dont remember where I bought the earrings but I think it was H&M or Target.  I wore my silver and gold MK watch and some old sunnies I have had laying around.

  • DIY DOUBLE BREASTED VEST USING BURDA PATTERN 6380

HI DARLINGS! As soon as I saw this pattern I knew I was going to use this mystery fabric I had in my stash. I wanted to wear it like a dress so the lighter weight fabric I decided on worked great. I love this pattern and plan to make it again, it was a pretty quick sew even though it is fully lined. NEW PODCAST EPISODE! Make sure to head over to listen to today’s episode of BUSINESS SHET! PATTERN INFO & MODIFICATIONS This BURDA 6380 pattern is awesome. I cut the 10 but could have gone down a size because I ended up having to take in quite a bit at the side seams. I plan to make it in a wool but this time around I just wanted a dress, lol. I cut the short version which on me is the perfect length since I usually have to shorten patterns to accommodate my 5′ 4″ height. I did not make any modifications to this pattern and the fabric is from MOOD. STYLE IT STEVE MADDEN HEELS | MK WATCH | CELINE SUNNIES

  • MY DIY THRIFTED REFASHION TUTORIAL WITH DOVE

HI DARLINGS! I partnered with Dove to create my most recent sleeveless DIY tutorial and to share why I love to use Dove Invisible Antiperspirant. For the last 20 years of my life, I have been able to make my clothes, tailor store-bought pieces and refashion thrifted finds. Many of you know that my favorite thing to make are dresses and specifically strapless or sleeveless dresses, however, wearing them requires some thought. I don’t know about you, but I am always concerned about how my underarms look, It sounds funny, but it’s so true, and we all know it. Table of Contents DIY REFASHION! LET’S GET TO WORK SLEEVELESS FABULOUSNESS ON THE GO DIY REFASHION! Now that I got some serious underarm confidence I thought I would share a little DIY I created using a beautiful silk dress I found at a thrift store recently. I loved the silk fabric, but as you can see below, it was frumpy, had too much sleeve action which was fine because I was going for a sleek sleeveless look anyway. Here is a look at the before! LET’S GET TO WORK Now let’s update this dress! Here are some of the steps I took. I first pinned the hem together so I could cut across evenly, working with silky fabric can be tricky so the more control you have the better. Using a rotary cutter and ruler, I trimmed off the skirt hem. Carefully and delicately I used my seam ripper to remove both my sleeves. I decided to use bias binding to finish my now sleeveless dress. I stitched my bias binding down. I pressed my bias flat for a smooth look. The elastic was so old! I removed it by making a small opening in the casing. Using new elastic 1/4” wide I replaced it. I used a safety pin to help me sift my elastic through the casing. The last step was to finish the hem of my skirt with a double fold SLEEVELESS FABULOUSNESS Okay, you ready to see my greatness? I love the way the dress looks. I loved the 100% silk fabric but the style needed some updating, now with a cleaner sleeveless look, I am ready to hit the streets but not before putting on some Dove Antiperspirant and picking the perfect shoes. ON THE GO I always make sure to carry my antiperspirant spray in my handbag because I can’t count the times I have run out of the house and realized I forgot to put on deodorant. Now no matter where I am I have odor and wetness protection that will last up to 48 hours while enjoying the benefits of NutriMoisture™ which I learned helps my skin retain moisture and balance over time. I love how such a simple DIY can completely transform this dress from frumpy to sassy! Make sure to take care of your entire body including your lovely underarms and never be afraid to go sleeveless again.

  • OOTD: PERFECT BLACK DRESS

HI DARLINGS! Happy Monday, I hope you are pumped for the week ahead. Today is an #OOTD day with a DIY alteration. I bought this dress at ZARA recently and I love it, however, I did want the dress to be a tad more fitted at the legs. I prefer a pegged look especially because my legs are so big, lol. The dress is cute and sits away from the body so I just took it in just below the hip to the hem. I do plan to make a version of this and might do a YOUTUBE video because it is pretty simple dress to knock off. NEW PODCAST EPISODE I took labor day off but promised I would be back today with a new episode. If you haven’t subscribed yet you are missing out! CLICK HERE to listen to Ep. 07 and subscribe.
