- #TBT Post: DIY Dress + Pattern Review
Hi Darlings, in honor of #TBT (Throwback Thursday) I am posting one of my all time favorite DIY looks. I made this dress using Vogue 8787 in December of 2012 and it’s still in my closet. Although I purge my closet every season to make room for more DIY’s I won’t ever let go of this baby. It’s flattering, black, has a great neckline and it’s fully lined. Below is the initial pattern review I did. Pattern HERE / Fabric HERE /Shoes (old) Pattern Description: Misses Dress Vogue 8787 Lined dress has fitted bodice variations, midriff, tapered or flared skirt and back zipper. Pattern Sizing: I cut size 6 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done with it? Yes Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, they are pretty clear and the bodice comes together quickly. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the neckline and although the image on the envelope is not that flattering I knew it just needed some tapering at the knee and a little length. Fabric Used: Leggero Knit HERE that has a subtle stretch but a great firmness. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I just pegged it at the hem because I don’t like the straight down format he hips look. I also lined it using my bag method instead of the way they have you do it in the pattern instructions. Bag method means I constructed the bodice and bodice lining and attached them to one another, then I attached the midriff section and midriff lining to the bodice and then attached the skirt to the midriff; once I did that I attached the skirt lining to the skirt at the HEM….yep the hem… I pulled the skirt up and attached the skirt lining at the waist to the midriff lining and finally I hand stitched the lining to the zipper. I could technically wear this dress inside out if I wanted too, LOL Would you sew it again? I don’t know, I might one day. #TBT #V8787 #patternreview #DIY #LBD

Hi Darlings, I hope you guys enjoyed your long weekend. I am so excited about the NYC pattern signing and meet and greet! with over 300 RSVP’s it’s going to be a great. I will be announcing other cities soon so stay tuned. Today’s dress is what I wore to church on Sunday. It’s a #DIY with a few modifications using New Look #6301 and some great ITY I had in my stash. You can read the review below along with fabric link options. Pattern HERE/ Fabric ITY Solids HERE and ITY Prints HERE /Forever 21 Belt / Aldo Heels Pattern Description: New Look 6301 HERE Faux Wrap Dress Fabric Used: I used a black ITY knit. You can view ITY Solids HERE and ITY Prints HERE Pattern Sizing: I cut the size 8 and graded down the entire bodice removing almost 3″ total. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope ? Sort of lol! Were the instructions easy to follow? They are easy and very clear. I did not use them but did sad them for the sake of the review. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I wanted to make a casual maxi dress using a wrap dress pattern and this one had everything I needed to achieve the look. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made the neckbands wider by 1″ and I extended the skirt to make it a maxi. I omitted the sash and used a store bought belt. Would you sew it again? Yes, I will never own to many maxi dresses or wrap dresses and this pattern was great to work with. Would you recommend it to others? YES. #review #pattern #newlook #wrapdress #LBD #6301 #Maxi

- DIY One Shoulder Dress #FBF
Hi Darlings and TGIF! In the spirit of #FBF (Flashback Friday) I decided to wear one of my favorite DIY dresses, McCall 6320 from a few summers back. The fabric was from a trip to NY but I listed some other options below. I am wearing my strapless bra and my short Jockey Skimmies to avoid panty lines. Pattern HERE / Fabric Options HERE, HERE / Steve Madden Heels (optional) HERE / Aldo Clutch Pattern: M6320 View C Fabric Used: Print Double Knit (options) HERE, HERE, HERE Pattern Sizing: I cut size 6 and still had to adjust the fit, it was too big. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope when you were done? Yep Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. The pattern pieces come together quickly and the princess seams makes it easy to adjust. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked the one shoulder bodice but did not like the skirt with front pleats so I removed them and replied them with darts. #M6320 #mcalls #oneshoulder #cobaltblue #Dress
- Floral Print Jumpsuit
Hi Darlings! I am so crazy in love with this jumpsuit I bought a few weeks back. I saw it in several colors, but this floral print was just so bold, and you guys know I love bold. It’s the perfect date night look and to top it off it’s comfy. I wore a low front strapless bra from VS and my Jockey Skimmies to avoid panty lines. Over the next few days, you guys will see my post for Michael Levine where I will be talking runway to everyday and covering one of my favorite fall trends. Then we are off to NYC for a few Fashion Week events and of course my pattern signing! Hope you guys have a wonderful day, and I will see you tomorrow with a Flashback Friday DIY look. - Bras Across America: Vanity Fair LiftTour
Hi Darlings, as some of you may remember, I along with five other bloggers joined the Vanity Fair Lingerie “Women Who Do” blogger program. The “Women Who Do” initiative is an uplifting campaign dedicated to praising and celebrating everyday triumphs of women and since I focus most of my energy on making sure this blog is a motivating and uplifting experience I was thrilled when they asked me to join. What was most inspiring to me about the “Women Who Do” initiative was the dedication to praising and celebrating the everyday triumphs of women everywhere. Dress for Success is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, career development tools and a network of support. To date, Dress for Success has helped more than 775,000 women work towards independence and self-sufficiency. The LiftTOUR is making its way around the U.S. uplifting women like you for more shape and support. For every fitting they do, they will donate a fabulous new bra to Dress for Success! On Tuesday, the LiftTOUR made its way to Los Angeles so I of course I stopped in to get fitted and donate a new bra to the program. I had a great time seeing first hand the impact they are making. Please make sure to check the LiftTOUR SCHEDULE so that you too can get fitted and support other amazing women at the same time. #vanityfair #dressforsuccess #lifttour #undergarments #bras
