HI DARLINGS! Today I am sharing how to sew this DIY two-piece top and skirt. We are heading off to our family vacay soon so I have been trying to sew a few patterns before leaving. This DIY top and skirt are from my SIMPLICITY SEWING PATTERN 8927 which I made with a great LINEN print from MOOD FABRICS. I plan to wear this look with sandals while on vacation but I had to photograph it in these heels! HI DARLINGS! I thought today I would share one of my favorite year-round dresses that I could practically live in. This is also a pattern we created and made to measurements in the SEW IT ACADEMY. Sew It is very much like a school we start with the absolute basics and encourage students to follow the courses in order but if you are an intermediate sewist you can sign up and skip around to the courses of interest. We also have a FREE TRIAL so you can take a look and see for yourself! I know that many of you know what SEW IT ACADEMY is but not necessarily how it works so I made a VIDEO talking about what we cover, how it works, and what you can expect. CHECK IT OUT! I have made this dress a lot in a ton of fabrics and every time I wear it I get asked about it. This is the one we drafted and constructed in SEW IT ACADEMY as our June course. For this dress, I used a really nice mustard linen. The dress has pockets, waist gathers on the bodice and skirt, side opening for the ties and can be made in any length. STYLE IT I wore THESE new leopard heels from STEVE MADDEN that I am in love with! You are going to see these a lot this summer, lol. The earrings are a bit old from H&M and my sunglasses are FOREVER 21 from several years ago.

HI DARLINGS! We are 20 days away from our wedding and I am starting to get jitters, LOL. Not about getting married but about forgetting to do something. I am making all kinds of lists! I have been sewing mostly wedding stuff so all my videos and pics will likely have something to do with the dress I am making for my mom and my reception wedding dress. I really need to get this done! Okay on to this dress…so this slip dress is from & OTHER STORIES, my favorite new store. I have been to it before but now there is one near our house so I get to visit more often. I love this slip dress and planned on making myself a few more for the summer. Maybe for our minimoon. Ok my loves, I am off to work on more wedding stuff and get the house ready for my dad who is arriving Friday.

HI DARLINGS! I got my hands on the new EV1 SUMMER COLLECTION at WALMART and I love the new collection of jeans and tee’s even more than the last. These jeans are super stretchy and soft and sit nicely on my back without gaping which is so important to me. The tees are so soft and I am seriously in love with the new nylon tote. More details below! When I was asked to partner with WALMART again to share the new ELLEN DEGENERES Summer collection I couldn’t resist because I have worn the last pair of jeans from her spring collection a lot and I was excited to try another pair. I was blown away by how great her collection is and that it’s inspired by love and inclusivity. The TEE is super soft and has a great fit. The JEANS! I love a good amount of stretch in my denim and these are perfect. Not only are they so cool looking with the stripe but they are comfortable to wear. I bought a size 6 this time because they have such a great stretch. What jeans I wear is always I question I get asked about because I am curvy and sometimes it can be hard to find jeans that fit at the waist and hips, these take care of both. The BAG is in constant use right now. It’s the perfect tote size and the navy nylon is very cool. It has so much space and cleans easily.

HI DARLINGS! I am so excited because after I hit publish on this post I am headed to the bridal salon to see how the dress I designed came to life. I can’t wait to put it on and see myself, this has been a crazy 5 months and I am almost worn out, lol. I just have to stay focused and get one thing done at a time. Ok, this shirt is self-drafted from one of my courses in SEW IT ACADEMY and the leggings are just a rub off of a pair I had. I have a video on my YOUTUBE on how to copy leggings. I got this faux stretch leather at MICHAEL LEVINE a while back. Ok, I am running late so I gotta go! See you guys on Friday.

HI DARLINGS! Wooohooo I am back. I finally settled into the new house and found time to start sewing, I have so many things to make and videos to record that I am so excited to get started. I had a hard time getting back into the swing of things and couldn’t find my SEWJO, it was driving me crazy. I finally went fabric shopping and made myself a sewing plan for the summer. Hopefully, I can get most of it sewn so I have some stuff to take on our honeymoon. I can’t tell you how much this little set has me ready for the summer! PATTERN AND FABRIC INFO PATTERN: This is the MCCALL 7757 top with a modification to the pants. I didn’t want an elastic waistband so I gathered and attached it to the waistband I made. The pattern is very easy and quick to sew, I had both pieced made in less than 3 hours. FABRIC: This amazing rayon is from MOOD FABRICS. I love the stripe/floral combo and I knew it would look great in this two-piece. STYLED IT: I wore this great straw hat I got at Target I think and these great YELLOW SANDALS from ZARA.

HI DARLINGS! Happy Thursday. Ok, here it is the second design of my NEW MIMI G X SIMPLICITY SUMMER PATTERNS. I love a good maxi dress and these are fantastic for so many reasons. First, it is made out a knit, it has great shaping for the curvy girls (I included, lol) and it has two top variations. They should start shipping to stores at the end of April. This is the second pattern so if you missed my post on the FIRST TWO PIECE you can click HERE. I will post the  This is a great summer pattern and sew-along videos coming soon.

HI DARLINGS! It feels like forever since I blogged, lol but with the wedding and the move it has been CRAZY. I am finally getting back into the swing of things and hoping for smooth sailing from now until the wedding. In between all the craziness I did still have a ton happening work wise like my NEW SIMPLICITY SUMMER PATTERNS! I am so excited to share these. They should start shipping to stores at the end of April. This is the first of two, I will post the other one on Thursday! This is a great summer pattern, you can lengthen the top if you want and the skirt comes in two lengths. I made both these beauties in linen. Sew-Along Videos coming soon!

HI DARLINGS! When I shop I usually buy things I won’t spend my time making like t-shirts and casual sweats and hoodies type stuff but sometimes I shop for inspiration and when I find something that is amazing and fits like a glove I buy it, take it home, and rub it off to create a pattern so I can make it again in other fabrics. When I saw this yellow suit at ZARA I had to try it on, I didn’t think it was going to fit so well but after it did I purchased it immediately because finding a double-breasted fitted suit style that fits my curves this well almost never happens and although I could draft my own from scratch or modify a pattern to get the look I want its much easier and faster to buy something crazy great, rub it off and have a perfectly fitting pattern. Not only that but the fabric is so good and the shade of yellow is beautiful! I am hoping to finish tracing off my suit this week so I can begin finding fabric for my DIY version. Stay tuned, lol. OUTFIT DETAILS You can find the suit on ZARA (HERE) The sunglasses are GUCCI from last year and I am wearing some nude heels. I didn’t want to wear a solid top so I pulled out my bralette from MADALYNNE INTIMATES which by the way is a FREE DOWNLOADABLE PATTERN.

HI DARLINGS! Today is an OOTD day and although this picture is in beautiful LA weather I am actually stuck in Denver during a blizzard, lol. Our flights have been canceled and we are waitlisted for tomorrow (fingers and toes crossed) I really need to get home and since we have been away in Denver on business for the last 10 days we are anxious to get back. OUTFIT DETAILS I love this jumpsuit and yes I do plan to trace it off and create a pattern for myself, lol. It is ridiculously comfortable and forgiving. It’s made from silk and feels like butter against my skin! I am off to go get some emails answered and wait for United to tell me when exactly I can get out of Colorado, ha! JUMPSUIT HERE and a few options HERE and HERE. I wore some old STEVE MADDEN heels (like 6 years old) and the bead necklace is from H&M from a few years back.
