  • How To Dress Up Jeans & Tanks + My Lush Cosmetics Obsession

Hi Darlings! Woohoo it’s the first day of spring! Are you excited to pull out your sandals and maxi dresses? I am. Today is a mash up of new things I currently love and wanted to share but first things first…. “How to dress up a pair of jeans and tank top” I get asked often how I manage to make casual look chic, and although I don’t have some magical styling dust that I can sprinkle on I do have a formula… 1. The first thing in dressing up jeans is to add height with your shoes. Put on some heels or wedges and that will instantly change the jeans look to a more chic look. 2. The boyfriend jean works the best for this look I am wearing. It lends itself to the “effortless” look I want, and adding the barely there heel adds sex appeal to the baggy look. 3. Wear a loose or fitted tank depending on your preference and go for grey or pastel colors this season. Do my signature front tuck to avoid the boxy or sloppy look. 4. Add jewelry to your jeans look. A little bling or even a few boho chic accessories add that extra little something your look needs. Never be afraid to stack on accessories when you’re rocking the simple jeans and t-shirt/tank look. The simpler your look, the more accessories you can get away with wearing. 5. Grab a clutch or slouchy bag in a yummy color or stick with the classic cognac bag that works all year round. **I am wearing Size 26 Gap Jeans and XS Tank** Gap Jeans HERE  (on sale)  / Gap Tank HERE (on sale) / Steve Madden Heels HERE / J. • DIY Neon Pink Wrap Dress + Steve Madden Heels

Hi Darlings! I am so excited to be heading to Miami in a few weeks as a speaker at Hispanicize 2014. I have a lot of sewing to do for my trip, so I better get busy. Today’s dress may look familiar because I made up this pattern (M6884) a few weeks ago HERE; it is such a great pattern and so quick to make. I have been having issues with my sewing mojo and so when that happens I try to make something quick and easy to help get my mojo going again. The fabric is just fantastic!! It is a great ITY with a bright neon PINK print I picked up at Michael Levine. They also have it in ORANGE! Make sure you take advantage of my coupon code “MIMI10” If that wasn’t incentive enough the fabric is only $5.00 a yard!  Spanish….. Hola Queridos! • Grand Central Market, Eggslut & The Better Booch Bar

Hi Darlings! If you live in Los Angeles you probably started your day off talking about this mornings earthquake. I was still in bed at 6:30 when the house started to shake. I just laid in the bed to see if it was going to get worse but it didn’t, and after a few seconds it was over (thank goodness!) so for those wondering, we are ok. Now….I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. This weekend was pretty good for the Goodwin’s, we had a little fun in the sun, had brunch with an old friend and took the two youngest to Grand Central Market for a little breakfast at Eggslut (not a typo) I decided that since the planking and whaling thing was so big maybe I could start a new trend of floating, lol! I figure we can all start taking pics floating on water…no?  Well, it was a thought. Either way this shot my daughter took is pretty cool. Doesn’t that water look amazing? On Saturday Chastidy and I had lunch with our friend David. Grand Central Market is also great for buying fresh veggies, fruits, and seafood. So there is this great little gem in downtown Los Angeles called Grand Central Market. It’s a food filled yummy place where you can go stuff your face, find cool things and have a great time. I have read several reviews on a place called Eggslut, and so of course it is my duty to review such places and report back to you so I sacrificed my waistline for you and took the hubby and kids on a lil trip to the market. Here is the thing about Eggslut, you have to wait a long time to get an egg sandwich! But I promise you it is so worth it. The line was so long the hubby took to playing with some clay and kept the kids preoccupied while I ran off to look around. Once we finally got our food we devoured it! That melted cheddar is so good, and the bacon was so good, and that soft bun was sooooo good. I hope you can all appreciate the sacrifice I made for you (hides face) now I have to run a little extra hard today during my workout. Kids washed it down with cokes and I had a raw organic orange juice that was so fresh it felt like I was sucking the juice right from the orange. Eggslut you were amazing. While standing in that really long line waiting for my sandwich, I met a few guys who were passing out some kombucha tea.  What is kombucha tea you ask? Well, Kombucha is a fermented tea beverage that detoxifies the body. This probiotic elixir tastes so yummy that after I had my sample I walked up to the bar to find out more. The guys were very nice and answered all my questions; they even gave me more samples to taste. I ended up buying a couple of bottles, and I may be hooked. It was so refreshing! Daily Candy wrote “little sips of heaven” and they were right. The best part of these drinks is that they contain no fruit, juice, sugar or preservatives of any kind. They work hand in hand with expert tea purveyors to create custom organic teas that blow your mind. If you want to learn more you can check out their site GET BETTER BOOCH What did you guys do this weekend? #eggslut #family

  • My Leg Workout + Food

Hi Darlings! So if I am asked one question across all my social media outlets is is always “what is your leg workout?” so although I do many different ones depending on the day or what I am working out, I thought I would share my leg day at the gym today. I did my 6 basic leg exercises that help keep my legs shapely. I also wanted to show you guys an example of what my three main meals consist of since I don’t really “diet” I simply make better choices every day with every meal. I will be talking more about that next Wednesday with the return of “Work It Wednesday” I usually maintain a carb cycling schedule where I have one high carb day and one low carb day and I alternate from week to week. (read about carb cycling) I always start my day with some form of carb, veggies and a protein, Below is my favorite breakfast; veggie omelet and whole grain toast with a few slices of avocado. Most importantly I drink a lot of water! I eat very quick and easy snacks twice a day which usually consist of carrots, apples, almonds, sometimes just a cup of broccoli etc. I dice up my veggies and saute them in 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil. I use these amazing frozen herbs to season my food. I also use the garlic one but didn’t have a pic. For lunch I will usually just have a protein shake and about 3 ounces of grilled chicken breast on the side. I add protein powder to my smoothies and a ton of green leaf goodness. I love my nutribullet! For dinner I will usually have some form of lean protein, veggies and on my high carb days will have either 3 small baby potatoes or 1/4 cup of brown rice. I hope this gives you a little glimpse of what I do and if you have questions please put them in the comments and I will go through and answer them tonight. #breakfast #food #legworkout #smoothies

Hi Darlings! A few months back I had the amazing ladies of Kisforkinky.com visit my home for the day. We had such a lovely time taking pictures, having conversations and doing a little filming. • DIY Skirt Inspired By Dolce & Gabbana + Pattern Review of Burda 6955

Hi Darlings! I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. I was able to spend time at the mall with my 16 year old, Lexi. We had such a good time trying on shoes, eating junk and laughing; it’s always so much fun to hang out with the girls because the amount of words they manage to squeeze into a day of chatting is astounding. I literally don’t have to say a single word the entire time and just listen as they share every detail of every moment with me, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Todays DIY skirt is inspired by a Dolce & Gabbana skirt I saw Jennifer Hudson wearing. I don’t have any issues with the pricing of designer garbs. I understand the business and what goes into each design, etc. but I figured since I did not have $995 to drop on a trumpet skirt by D&G, although it is made of finespun silk, I decided I would make a version of the skirt myself. Mine is made of a textured cotton/poly blend that has about 2% stretch and can be found HERE. If you are not into polka dots maybe you would love the houndstooth, squares and other fabrics in the Harmony Collection. DIY Skirt Pattern HERE / Other Options (above) My Fabric HERE / F21 Cropped Top / Steve Madden “Belden” (old) Pattern Description: Misses Skirts Burda 6955 Pattern Sizing: I cut size 6 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done with it? Yes Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, they are pretty clear. It came together pretty quick. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I had been meaning to make this pattern and seeing Jennifer’s skirt and realizing I had a fabric in my stash that was perfect just worked out great. Fabric Used: Textured Knit HERE also available in Navy Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did not make any changes to the pattern itself but I did make a change to the style by adding a waistband. Honestly Burda patterns are pretty good when it comes to fitting. I rarely have to make a lot of fitting adjustments to Burda. Would you sew it again? Not sure if I need another but it is certainly a great skirt pattern. Would you recommend it to others? Yes #6955 #review #gabbana #flute #dolce #DIY #burda #skirt
