HI DARLINGS! Happy Monday. Listen, I have had the most amazing few weeks! The amount of awesome things that have been coming my way is truly mindblowing and my gratitude list is filling up fast. I am such a believer in the law of attraction and I have been attracting wonderful things. I have had little time to sew because of all the new opportunities I have been working on lately but I was able to finish my #DIYWHITECOLLECTION, I only did six looks and this beautiful lace dress using VOGUE 1314 is #4 Details on the pattern and fabric choices below. I made it several times in various knit fabrics.  The pattern is easy to sew, has gathering at the waist and is lined. I used a stretch lace fabric that I purchased years and years ago and had just been sitting in my stash. I used a basic jersey knit for the lining. The dress is super simple so using the lace really gave it interest. I also choose to use the scallop edge for my hem. Here are some great STRETCH LACE options. HI DARLINGS! Happy Friday. Ok, I love this NEW LOOK 6560 pattern, this wrap top is awesome and will become a TNT for sure. This is my third piece for my #DIYWHITECOLLECTION, and I can’t wait to get some more linen, so I make this top again. I talk about the pattern, fabric, and modifications below. The pattern is easy to sew, has great details and the front wrap is really pretty, I love the belt and the gathers on the yoke. It ties on the inside and does have a button for closure but I did not use it. I tied the inside and then used my belt to tie the front closed, it fits so well and I love how simply beautiful it is. The LINEN fabric I choose is from THE FABRIC STORE and it is gorgeous. Such great quality and pre-washing my fabric it softened really nicely. I made no modification to this at all, but when I make it again, I will be adding a 1/2 to the bodice length. The fabric I choose is from JOANN FABRICS (not online, only in stores) and it has a great texture. I used the navy version of this fabric for THIS look and THIS look in my #DIYBLUECOLLECTION. HI DARLINGS! This is the first piece in my #DIYWHITECOLLECTION. This dress is a hit! Well, for me anyway, lol. I found this pattern in the drawers at JOANN; It’s VOGUE 1554 I have a more romantic, soft feel for the #DIYWHITECOLLECTION and although it won’t all be soft and romantic, there is something girly about being in white or off-white that makes me feel more delicate and pretty. I love the pieces I have made so far and can’t wait to show them off to you. More info on the pattern, my fabric choices and modifications below. I was really attracted to the use of multiple fabrics and I knew that I had a few pieces of fabric in my stash that I could use. I wanted to do the lace panel for sure because I love the way you can see legs, it adds a little bit of sexiness to the dress. The texture of the second panel was a nice touch and I used it for the bodice yoke too. The body of the dress and tie belt are a CHALLIS I had in my stash too. MODIFICATION The only thing I did differently was to gather the dress vs creating pleats as shown on the pattern. My fabric was so lightweight and after testing the pleat it didn’t hold well enough for me so I went with soft gathers instead. HI DARLINGS! I must still be on a yellow kick because my first OOTD after the last post of my #DIYYELLOWCOLLECTION is a yellow button up I bought at FOREVER 21 a week or so ago. This is the first OOTD post in a long time, I think I will start back up doing at least one look a week for my non-sewing babes (who really should be learning tho, lol) I just wore a simple black tank and my favorite HIGH RISE JEANS (similar ones) from MADEWELL and my favorite shoes that you should all be very familiar with, lol. I really really really wish JESSICA SIMPSON would release this style again. I wore my GUCCI SUNNIES (similar ones) and H&M Earrings. HI DARLINGS! I can’t decide which of my yellow pieces has been my favorite because I think I love them all but this dress which is VOGUE 9253 is such a winner! The pattern is so simple to follow, and the fabric is just magnificent. More details on the pattern and fabric below. I made a total of nine pieces in my yellow collection, and I can’t wait to start my white & nude collection. The pattern is super easy to follow and comes together quickly because there aren’t very many pieces. I did not cut my front with a CF seam but instead cut it on the fold. I did not want to break up my print any more than necessary. I wanted it to flow as naturally as possible. I love the big pockets, the low neckline and the sleeves. I think next time I might bring the neckline up just a tad. The fabric is a silk print I got at MOOD FABRICS I couldn’t find it online. HI DARLINGS! I can’t get over this adorable dress. This pattern is a winner, and I can’t wait to make the other versions. This little dress is so cute and flirty; I like how easy it came together and that it is fully lined which I love. The pattern is pretty simple and doesn’t require a whole ton of work. If you have a full bust you may need an FBA, and I found the darts to be up to high, so I had to adjust mine other than that it was a breeze to sew. The fabric I decided on a stretch cotton. The pattern doesn’t require a stretch woven but I had it on hand, and it was yellow, so that is what I used, lol. HI DARLINGS! I hope you have had an enjoyable weekend. I am on the road with my family this week, so it’s been a ton of fun. I have been so excited about this #DIYYELLOWCOLLECTION, and although I still have two more looks to show you after today I am sad to see it go, I think next up is White or what I will call my Naked collection, lol all nudes and creams. Let me know which you want to see first. I have a red collection and purple collection coming soon too. I am also thinking of doing an animal print one. This DIY WRAP TOP and PANTS are a fun little pair to sew, I used two different patterns and details on that including thoughts on the top are further below. It’s a great pants pattern and make hardly any fit adjustments to it which is always a winning pattern for me. I used a piece of fabric I had left over from THIS POST. The top is V9315 VIEW C and although I love this top so much there are a few things to watch out for, one the front wrap is pretty low and if you are busty, you may want to bring the neckline up a bit. Secondly, it is really short. In the pattern envelope it looks like the top sits on her lower waist but in fact, this is really short, like crop top short, lol! I had to tie my wraps below the top so cover myself. I am not shoy about showing my body at all but it was a bit much. I plan to make it again but with modifications to the length of the bodice. HI DARLINGS! Happy Wednesday. I love this dress so much! When I saw MCCALL 7752 top pattern, I knew I was going to make it a dress, lol I love doing that. I talk about my pattern modifications and fabric below. This is definitely going to be made again this summer, and I will also be making it as a top which is what the pattern actually is designed as. I used the peplum view and just extended the length of the peplum. I also decided not to use the straps. I interfaced the entire bodice for support; if you have a large bust, you will need to use the straps or add boning. The interface was enough for me. The fabric is a small gingham cotton fabric I bought online some time ago and added it to my collection. This fabric is pretty easy to find especially during the summer. HI DARLINGS! Happy Monday, I hope you are enjoying the long weekend. I will be on the road this week on a family trip, so I am packing and getting things in order. I had enough time to get some sewing done so I could post the remaining looks in my #DIYYELLOWCOLLECTION while I am away. Today’s DIY Caftan look makes me feel very glamorous LOL! I want to stand outside and wait for my chariot to pull up, ha! I have wanted to make this caftan pattern by SIMPLICITY for so long, and I thought what better time than during the yellow collection. I plan to make this again for the summer in a challis. More details on my pattern and fabric below. DIY CAFTAN INFO & MODIFICATIONS This is SIMPLICITY #8505 which is a SIMPLICITY vintage pattern that they brought back. I have the original vintage pattern too. This is a really easy pattern and comes together really quickly. What is great is that you don’t need to do much fitting, lol its pretty loose fitting lol! I plan to make this again in a fun print. The fabric is a pebble crepe from MICHAEL LEVINE (sold out but similar options HERE or HERE) It has great texture but it is very sheer so I wore a nude slip underneath.
