- MY SEQUIN SEW FROSTING JUMPSUIT
HI DARLINGS! How is it Friday already? I am gearing up for my birthday in just a few days and I am so excited however today I am here for this sequin jumpsuit and all its glory. When TRUEBIAS and CLOSET CASE PATTERNS posted about the #SEWFROSTING Challenge I initially just thought I would enjoy watching others DIY makes and then I decided, what the hell, I am going to make something that I probably won’t ever wear outside of New Year’s Eve, lol but who cares? I might go do groceries in this get up just because I can. Sew Frosting is basically sewing something you usually wouldn’t make or wear or something you have dreamed up but never dared make it. This sequin number is just fun and fancy, and I feel amazing in it, lol. I used VOGUE 1506 and decided to make it more fitted than the pattern calls for. I also added a very long satin sash for drama. I had fun working on my #SEWFROSTING challenge, and now I have a super fancy fit for those last minute Hollywood parties I get invited too (that never happens, LOL), but a girl can dream.

The way it falls and moves makes me feel pretty, lol. Its a quick and easy sew and you will want to make it in every color. I used a great textured stretchy sweater knit fabric from my stash (before I got rid of my stash, lol) I think I am going to make it again in red for the holidays. - DIY MERMAID OUTFIT INSPIRED BY PRABAL GURUNG
HI DARLINGS! Today is all about having fun, lol. I saw this great look by PRABAL GURUNG’s Spring RTW 2019 show and I wanted to make my version of the sheer skirt and bodysuit. It was a lot of fun to make and I don’t know that I would actually wear it much but I love it! I need a sexy date night for this. I am going to post a BEHIND THE SEAMS look on my IGTV today but here are the details on what I used. For the skirt, I used an older MCCALL 5431 (out of print) skirt pattern and modified it to add princess seams. I drafted a new waistband and did two rows of drawstrings and three rows of 1/4″ elastic. I used a mix of chiffon and satin for the skirt and for the bodysuit I used a rib knit and SIMPLICITY 8513. I lovingly call this my little mermaid outfit, lol and if Ariel grew up and was going out on the town this is what she would wear, ha! This beautiful illustration of my inspiration outfit was done by my dear friend CRISTINA TUDOR, you can check out her work HERE.
- DIY BUFFALO PLAID SHIRT DRESS
HI DARLINGS! How is it Friday already? I need to get busy because my son is insisting that I make him his Halloween costume and I have yet to get started. Are you making a costume this year? This will be a first for me, lol. Well, on to this amazing buffalo plaid shirtdress that we drafted in the SEW IT ACADEMY. We have 29 courses in SEW IT ACADEMY and many of them include pattern drafting, learning to copy your garments, creating patterns from copied garments, draping etc. We do a LOT in the academy. This shirtdress is from Octobers course where made two different types of shirtdresses. If you want to learn more you can visit SEWITACADEMY.COM it is just like Netflix, you become a member and you gain access, you work at your own pace and we strongly suggest you follow the courses in order (Course #1, Course #2 etc.) but it’s not mandatory. STYLE IT I wore my black leggings, H&M earrings, Urban Outfitters belt, and my Steve Madden booties (they are old, at least 6 years)
- OOTD: STRIPED SWEATER DRESS WITH DIY OPTION
HI DARLINGS! Can we talk about this cardigan from FOREVER 21, I am sorry it’s not online but if you want to DIY this cardigan you can DOWNLOAD my ANNIE CARDIGAN PATTERN and just extend it, cut a size smaller or take in the side seams as you sew and fit. I wore the ANNIE a few times HERE and HERE. I wore this with a great belt from URBAN OUTFITTERS and my taupe boots from STEVE MADDEN, there are similar ones HERE.
- DIY GREEN FLORAL MAXI DRESS USING MCCALL 7804
HI DARLINGS! I am having all kinds of fall vibes in my modern little house on the prairie look, LOL! I think I am in love with this dress and hat so I plan to wear it often. This MCCALL 7804 pattern is super cute and so comfy to wear. I mention my modifications and fabric below. NEW PODCAST EPISODE I just published Episode 12 of BUSINESS SHET! Head over to listen and subscribe. PATTERN INFO & MODIFICATIONS This MCCALL 7804 is great, easy to sew and so comfy. I love this long view and only made one modification. I wanted to be able to pull it in a bit more at the waist so I created ties that I put at the side seams so I could tie them to the back and cinch my waist a bit more. The fabric is from LA FINCH and it’s a beautiful CREPE. STYLE IT Black tights, Steve Madden Boots, Urban Outfitters Hat.

I plan to make the ruffle one too so I just need to find the fabric I want to use. This is a quick sew once you get past the loops and ties but even then it is still pretty straightforward. - OOTD: BELTED SWEATER DRESS
HI DARLINGS! It’s an OOTD kinda day. This sweater dress is from FOREVER 21 and I tried finding it online for you but it’s no longer listed. You could probably still find it in store but I ordered this online. When I got it I knew that I was going to wear it as a dress vs a belted cardigan so I pinned the front button band down and stitched it closed so it wouldn’t open as I walked. I guess there is a bit of DIY involved, lol. I wore this great necklace which I have had for some time, I think it’s from H&M. My shoes are a few seasons old from STEVE MADDEN.
- HOT PINK DRESS USING VOGUE 1588
HI DARLINGS! Let’s talk about this dress, lol. Ok, first the center front opening in the pattern pic is not as low as you see here, LOL! I am not sure if they closed it up for the pics, but as you can see it’s a bit more revealing. I do like the dress a lot but I plan to make it again with some changes which I mention below in the pattern info section. It looks very pretty and the color is amazing! Next time I want to try it in a lace as shown in the pattern. PATTERN INFO & MODIFICATIONS Ok, this VOGUE 1588 dress is very pretty but because I did not make it out of lace as an overlay I didn’t think to change the order of construction which would have made a huge difference. I made it out of a wool from my stash which worked fine but again the construction is written out for a lace overlay dress. Also, as I mentioned above the opening is a bit more than I like so the next time around I will close it up some.
- DIY VELVET FLORAL DRESS PLUS SEW-ALONG VIDEO
HI DARLINGS! This dress is gonna make its round in the sewing community, lol so I thought I would film a SEW-ALONG VIDEO for MCCALL 7833 while I made mine. It’s a quick sew and can be dressy or casual depending on your choice of fabric. My GREEN VELVET FLORAL fabric is from MICHAEL LEVINE and they have a BLUE COLORWAY too. Enjoy the video below! STEP-BY-STEP SEW-ALONG STYLE IT STEVE MADDEN HEELS | H&M EARRINGS | H&M SUNNIES
- OOTD: MY FAVORITE NEW PANTS
HI DARLINGS! Today is an OOTD kinda day. These pants and cropped turtleneck are from URBAN OUTFITTERS. I am always looking for high waist comfy pants so when I find a good pair I will buy them and will sometimes create a pattern from them. These have yet to be rubbed off but I have worn them a half dozen times already. The cropped turtleneck came in two colors and I bought both, the army green and a yellow one. They fit great and are not too cropped, its a good length. I tried to find both of these items online but they are no longer listed, I bought them just over 4 weeks ago. STYLE IT GUCCI SUNNIES | GUCCI SLIDES | VINTAGE NECKLACE | H&M EARRINGS
