BEST EDUCATION OPTIONS FOR YOUR FAMILY

HI DARLINGS! I don’t know if you are aware but January 22-28th is NSCW (National School Choice Week) for me this has a special significance because if you have been following the blog since the beginning you probably recall me writing about the different choices I had to make for my kid’s schooling.

NSCW shines a spotlight on the many different types of effective education options available. From traditional public schools to charter schools, online academies, private schools, and homeschooling. They bring light to why it’s key for families to participate and learn more about their options. Traditional school although great for many isn’t always the perfect choice for your family and having a place to go learn about the many options can be life changing.

My kids have all had different types of schooling at some point. For Chastidy (my oldest) she didn’t enjoy traditional high school, she was shy and had trouble adjusting and I knew her well enough to know that she needed an option. After her second freshman semester, her grades were not good and she had been withdrawing a bit. I had a neighbor who had home-schooled her children through a really great virtual public school that is provided by the Los Angeles Unified School District so we thought I would give it a shot.

After a short adjustment period, Chastidy was doing great! She made the dean list, graduated with straight A’s and was able to enjoy the process. I also homeschooled Imani for the first two years of her schooling and Alexzia went to a charter school dedicated to the arts which is what she loves the most. They all had the ability to be comfortable in the space in which they were learning which allowed for a great experience.

Only you know what is best for your family of course so I thought I would share my story in hopes that if you find yourself wondering about the choices your children have you may find
