Ok so I don’t post too much about the SEW IT ACADEMY but I should because I know there are so many of you in different stages of your sewing journey but knowing to sew from the very beginning and learning techniques and skills that you may not even be aware of is recurring theme for so many who joined thinking they “knew” the beginning  stuff already and were really surprised at just how much they missed.

So…. I thought I would share a few things you should know 😉

1. DECEMBER: Happy Holidays! Basic Bodice To Top Two Ways

Create two tops from your bodice sloper along with learning necklines and finishing techniques

1. JANUARY: Let’s Start The Year Off Sexy! Lingerie Course

Guest instructor and fellow Simplicity licensee will teach us how to make some undergarments.

1. FEBRUARY: Upper Body Fitting Course! With guest instructor Deborah Kreiling from Simplicity

Learn everything you need to know to make adjustments to your upper body when working with patterns.

Before we dive into pattern sewing you must be equipped to make fit adjustments.

1. MARCH: Intro To Patterns/ The Essential Button Up Shirt

Now that you are equipped  with upper body fitting adjustments you are ready to tackle the button up shirt.

Learn how to sew cuffs, collar bands, collars, sleeve plackets and more!

1. APRIL: Lower Body Fitting Course! With guest instructor Deborah Kreiling from Simplicity

Learn everything you need to know to make adjustments to your lower body when working with patterns.

Before we dive into pants sewing you must be equipped to make fit adjustments.

1. MAY: Intro To Patterns/ Let’s Sew Pants

Now that you are equipped  with lower body fitting adjustments you are ready to tackle pants!

Various design options and techniques will be covered. (more details closer to course date)

1. JUNE: Summer Wardrobe/ Build A Summer Wardrobe From one Pattern

We will tackle a complete 4 piece summer wardrobe with one pattern and tons of modifications for endless ideas.

1. JULY: Tailoring Course w/ Guest Instructor

Learn tailoring techniques essential to elevating your sewing. Learn vocabulary, tips, trade tricks and more.

This class is a MUST and will be chock full of info. (more details closer to course date)

1. AUGUST: The Blazer (or sleeveless Jacket)

Learn to sew a fully lined blazer. We will learn techniques, finishings including a lining pocket and style variations.

Take the fear out of sewing a blazer with me!

1. SEPTEMBER: Fall Wardrobe/ Build A Fall Wardrobe From one Pattern

We will tackle a complete 4 piece summer wardrobe with one pattern and tons of modifications for endless ideas.

We will be making a classic trench coat with all the bells and whistles, learning techniques and variations.

This Jacket will be a staple in your wardrobe and will carry you through years to come.

1. NOVEMBER: The Holiday Evening Dress

Learn to sew an evening dress with style and design ideas. Learn to work with silky and slippery fabrics.

Learn how to work with sequin and other special occasion fabrics including finishings.

A super fun course that will have you looking amazing for your holiday party.

1. DECEMBER: The Essential Coat 

We will be making our very first coat! Style and design variations, techniques, working with bulky fabrics, fabric selections

and so much more.
